Default Steering assist deactivated?

Went to move the spyder and battery was basically dead- car wouldn't start and warning came on "steering assist deactivated- driving permitted" or something to that effect. Jumped it and car started right up, runs fine. In all honesty (sorry- see thread on OT ) the car seems normal and steering feels normal.

I can reset the warning with my durametric but wondered if anyone has had this or if just resetting the warning (code) "fixs" it??

Dead and weak batteries will mess with the computer function, might be time to replace it.

On my Spyder the airbag light comes on and basically shuts down the airbags when the battery goes dead. I have to reset with durametric.

Installed new battery and cleared all fault codes in various subsystems and I still have the steering warning... hope it goes away when I drive it.

Installed the latest Durametric download as well.

You'll have a PSM error for the steering since the PSM module doesn't know where center is. Drive it 100 feet in a straight line and the error message will go away.

Agreed, that is normal until you drive it. Seems like a good excuse to drive it

Interesting- I drove it home and didn't lose the warning but didn't drive straight for a 100' . I turned right when I left the garage. I'll see if clearing faults and then driving straight fixes it. I'm not even sure what the hell "steering assist" is it seems to steer normally.

FWIW- found another suggestion: turn on car, turn steering wheel all the to the right and then all the way to the left, basically lock to lock. I had to do it twice but it did work and the warning went away. And I have a nice new AGM battery from O'Reilly's for 200 bucks.
