Default Exhaust Not Street Legal - Why

OK, dumb question of the day, why is this exhaust https://www.agencypower.com/agency-p...150713438.html
considered a racing exhaust? Isn't it all after the catalytic converters?

"The new Agency Power exhaust system for the Porsche 981 is a complete header back kit."

I guess the catalytic converters are after the header, so they are replaced by a straight pipe, so not street legal, at least where I live.

The cats are IN the headers. That system wouldn't affect emissions, not sure why they think it's not street legal. May be a marketing thing so people tell their friends their cars are for racing only lol.

It's legalese for "we're not responsible for emissions/smog and/or noise regulations in your area."

Technically speaking, any modification to an exhaust that creates more decibels than a factory exhaust option for that car is considered an illegal modification in any state with the US.
That being said, most states don't care about this upon inspections and most law enforcement won't bother you unless you're intentionally revving and trying to make unnecessary noise.
If you were to get pulled over for being too loud, you can just make the claim that you're driving home from a track day or performance event and intend to swap back once you get home. Worst case, you get a fix it ticket.

My 987S has no mufflers and no secondary cats, no problems here. Back when I lived near the city and had to do emissions/inspections, I passed with a wide open cutout just after the cat.

The "illegal" claim is the same reason why aftermarket tail lights and many suspension parts are listed as "Track or offroad use only," it legally protects the company.
