Its one of the things I love about my Cayman.. can wear any shoe, boot or sandal without any issues whatsoever.
Now the Viper on the other hand.. that's a different story. Pedals are strategically placed for heel-toe'ing and are extremely close together.
HAVE TO use a narrow shoe without treads hanging off the sides.
Piloti/Sparcos work great but I've also settled on a couple different pairs of that work even better (IMHO) and are much cheaper.

I spent some time with the car today. Its not really the shoes. Its the foot box. When I sit in the car my left foot is over the dead pedal and my right over the clutch. I need to shift both feet to the right in order to use the throttle and clutch. The shoe issue came up because my clutch foot sometimes rubs the inside of the dead pedal. Its never foot to foot contact

Puma Drift Cat, I bought on Amazon I have narrow feet, I had to order full 1.5 size larger than any brand shoe I have ever ordered, I really like them but for me I had to order a 10.5 for my normal 9.0 foot, took me multiple attempts

I only wear my narrow type shoes when I go to the track, or doing performance type driving, I feel like my work shoes or running shoes are too wide on the soles when going to the brake to the gas in a aggressive driving day.

My racing shoes are Piloti boots. I love them but they are too loud for none track use.

If you want something narrow and that have been quite fashionable and successful in Italy for the last few years, you should get these:
