Coolant Question for 987.2
Coolant in my 987.2 2.9 is low, and I'm trying to figure out which type it needs. The owner's manual is lacking in that kind of info. According to Suncoast parts, it's Porsche 4330105 (black bottle, white label). According to Pelican Parts it's Porsche 43305 (black bottle, black label, probably the same thing). Pelican Parts also offers Zerex G-40 as an OEM supplier. I asked Zerex (Valvoline) if G-40 is appropriate for my 2012 and they said it was for 2014+, but for 2012 "G-12 was covered by Dexcool" (exact quote).
Anyone able to shed any light on what the truth is here?

Can't speak to which coolant, but if just topping off (between the lines in the reservoir) I merely added distilled water (like 100 ml or so). At this rate, I expect no appreciable dilution of the mix and/or protection level.
Just another 2 cents.

Dealer that sold me my CPO '12 CS also recommended using distilled water. Have received nothing but great advice from them.

I have the same engine and just bought the OEM coolant from Pelican when I flushed mine. If all you're doing is topping off once, distilled water works or you can just get a quart of coolant, make a 50/50 mix, and top off as needed.

I had to replace my cap back when I first acquired the car. IIRC, the cap P/N was on it's 4th revision, 996 106 447 04, at that time. Mine is 987.1, I imagine 987.2 may be similar.

Not only is the cap an issue, the O-Rings also loose their pliability after a few years and they start to seep. I would replace the O-Ring every 4 years regardless of mileage.

Ask the parts guy for the o-ring, its cheap. Unfortunately they are frequently "out of stock" and you need to purchase the cap. As I recall mine was an 986 part number but many are interchangeable.
