Hey Rennlisters. I've looked a little bit but there seems to be a lot of mixed advise out there on the internet. I am looking for some clearcut advise on converting my standard halogen lights on my 07 987 S to LED.
There are virtually hundreds of LED options on Ebay, but does anyone have any first-hand experience and recommendations for any?

Hikari have one advantage over most of the other brands. The actual light capsule can be rotated - helping to make a better light distribution without causing glare to oncoming motorists.

I mean exactly what I said.
The central portion of the HIKARI LED's can be rotated relative to the keyed base part. A standard halogen bulb has a key in it to orient it in the housing, and to keep you from using a different bulb. The LED bulbs, unlike a halogen, have two surfaces with LED emitters on then. It doesn't put out light 360 degrees - it puts it out in two partial arcs. The reflector on a halogen light is designed for a filament that puts out light in a 360 degree arc. So it works differently with the HID insert. To get the best light from the reflector it's useful to be able to rotate the central light emitting part so the two partial arcs are where they will work best with the reflector.
The ones I used were: HIKARI LED Headlight Bulbs Conversion Kit-H7, 2019 New Gen of HIKARI, Adjustable Beam, 9600lm 6K Cool White

It’s my understanding that LED replacement bulbs technically aren’t street legal. Is that still the case? I believe the issue has been around putting LED bulbs in a protector halogen headlight and the spread not working the same. However, maybe some of the previously mentioned bulbs solve this issue.

I think you are right about the legality but the 987 projectors have a distinct/hard cutoff line for the led beam so scatter should be a minimum. It's easy enough to drop the beam a bit if you get flashes from opposing traffic.
