Default Engine Fan always on (blower)

2005 Boxster 987 Stock

The blower (Engine Compartment Fan) always seems to be on. Maybe it has something to do with my emissions problem.

The temperture is fine, engine runs great, and no MIL. Radiators all clean.

The codes that keeps me from passing emissions (running expired plates)
secondary air system not ready
fuel tank ventilation not ready

I drove it 2k miles, reset codes, drove another 1k. There are driving cycles that I looked up and did those too.

I found this for conditions of the blower.

"The engine compartment scavenging blower is switched on and off at the following temperatures:
Engine compartment temperature: ON at > 158° F. (70° C),
OFF at < 131° F. (55° C).
Coolant temperature: ON at > 216° F. (102° C),
OFF at < 210° F. (99° C).
It can also be activated at high intake air temperatures / ambient temperatures."

Ran into a similar problem a little over a year ago in my 981; but mine was on literally all the time, even with the ignition off. I had to pull the fuse to get it to turn off.

I'm sure it's a different part number at the least, but here's a link to the thread for reference.

Check that the engine compartment temperature sensor is still clipped to it's bracket. My 987.2 blower would come on high after driving a short time in mild weather and run 30 mins. after parked. Turns out the sensor was laying on the engine case and not in it's bracket which caused it to measure higher temps.
