These are what I'm looking at for my 987.2 Boxster (sound package plus). Both plug into the AUX port in the CDR30.

iphone cable for audio and charging.. 12v and ground need to be wired into cars accessory
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-200...wAAOSwjVVV0ln1

Bluetooth streaming module .. 12v and ground need to be wired into cars accessory
https://www.ebay.com/itm/2009-2012-P...wAAOSwAuNW7Hw5

The thing I don't quite understand right now where I'll be able to tap into a switched 12v power line (and ground). I do not have the 12v power port in the passenger footwell.

Anybody know where this will be?

Ended up getting some Quick Splices, tapped the white antenna power wire and the ground and everything seems to be working OK.

What am I missing? With bluetooth you should be able to charge your phone via a cigarette lighter and have Waze directions/alerts come over bluetooth on the speakers. Am I overlooking something? I'm picking up a 987 Spyder in CA in 3 weeks and driving it back to TX and was planning on leaving my phone plugged in/charging via cigarette lighter and having Waze alert me of any police/obstructions over the speakers.

Here's my solution:

usb splitter (https://www.ebay.com/itm/2x-3-Port-M...p/312603430759) which gives me 2 usb outlets in the console. 1 for a cable to power the phone and the other to power the little bluetooth transmitter/receiver.

The bluetooth transmitter/receiver (readily available as in several of the above posts) receives its power from the above splitter, is placed into receiver mode and emits its signal into the AUX port in the console.

Unfortunately, with CDR30, bluetooth is for phone only, not for music/waze streaming. It's a definite downer.

How hard was this to install?

Ah I see. Mine has PCM w/ Nav, not sure if that'll grant music/Waze Bluetooth capabilities but I'm bringing an Aux cord just in case.

Some anxiety upfront around splicing the wires, but in the end it was super simple. Tapped the white antennae wire for power and the brown wire for ground.

This will give you streaming audio via AUX for less than $100. But bluetooth connections can be finicky and sometimes I need to manually reconnect the iphone.

I'm still considering just swapping the head unit for something with Apple Carplay -- maybe next year.

I have this in my 2011 Cayman with CDR30. Put the charger/adapter in the power socket, plug the 3.5 aux into the aux socket, and pair. Total install time, about 2 minutes. Works flawlessly. Does NOT interfere with the OEM handsfree phone system.
