Cayman battery
Has anyone had an issue with 2012 Cayman base battery going dead when the vehicle hasn’t been driven for a while? Our went dead after the car sat in the garage for about a week. We’ve only had it for about a month. After I jump started it and drove it around for around a half hour it was charged back up and there were no warnings on the dash. I hear that if you have the alarm on and it sits for a while that that could cause it, but the alarm wasn’t on.

Sounds like you may need a new battery. I put my Cayman on a charger in the winter, but during the Summer it can sit for several weeks without problem. There is no magic solution as far as locked vs unlocked, security system on/off etc. My car is unlocked in the garage.

Parasitic current drain
After you have had your battery checked, it may be worth looking for a parasitic drain on the battery. In my case, it was a tracker system where the company had been told to discontinue the subscription. Therefore, the tracker was constantly polling the head office system and not getting a reply. This was about 80mA and would drain the battery in 5 days. As the car is new to you, the previous owner may have discontinued their subscription rather than transfer to new owner (as it was sold through Carfax?). If you need a new battery, steer clear of Porsche branded ones, they are not very good. In the UK, Bosch are the go to batteries.
As for drain from the alarm, not normally a problem. Most circuitry shuts down after 10 minutes and even the door locking sensors shut down after 5 days - to reactivate remote locking just give the handle a quick pull.

As far as I know there isn’t any ancillary systems added to the car. We bought it through Shift in southern Cal and there wasn’t anything disclosed about add ones. I checked the voltage yesterday after I drove the car and again this morning after it sat for a day and so far no voltage drop. It has a NAPA battery in it now and I’ve had good luck with them in my X5. This car probably has sat a lot since it only has 10K on it in 6 years. Appreciate the feedback.

I’ll try that too. I’m checking voltage of the battery each day to see how much it might drop. Just opened the door and then shut it. The interior light stay on for around a minute. That used up about .03 volts. Hav to wait till Monday to get the battery checked.

I agree that 5 years is long life for today's cars.
I had/have a problem like the OP. My audio amplifier (stock Porsche) intermittently issues a low pitch from the speakers even when the system is off and the key is removed from the car. Consequently the car can rarely go a week (un-driven) without the battery losing all charge.
I've started removing the amplifier fuse to get around this.
YMMV.

What brand of battery do you guys use? Looking on line the newer AGM batteries seem like a good way to go. We don’t plan on leaving it sit for weeks at a time so hopefully a new battery will solve the issue.

Cayman battery
figured out what caused the battery problem on my Cayman. Turns out the battery shown as being installed at Gaudin Porsche in Vegas on the Carfax must have been a Porsche battery that was then replaced last June with a NAPA AGM battery. The NAPA battery has an internal problem and will be replaced. At least there was no problem with the electronics of the car. Have to get the Carfax updated. Thanks for everyone’s interest and help in solving my issue.
