However, it might seem so considering that we are a year past having a 10-year supply of potential cars on the market, and that would logically mean "greater supply, lower prices". (It's interesting to me to think about Boxsters having been around for 20 years and Caymans only ten.) To the contrary, I think that also would mean more cars with higher mileage, more wear, etc. and greater depreciation will bring weaker prices. Also as each successive model change, 987.1 to 987.2 to 981, comes out, the previous model generally loses some of its appeal.
With all that said, I think that, like most other Porsches, well-maintained cars will still be highly valued. I bought an '06 CS with an excellent maintenance history, perfect cosmetics, and 42,000 miles; paid a bit of a premium at $30k, but I have a car I'm proud of and enjoy immensely. I think there will always be a strong market for similar cars.
I rented and demoed several 991, 987, 981s at various venues. My friend bought a 997.2 C4S, which I have had mad hooning fun with.
For my uses, my roads, my commutes, I find it hard to believe that I would have any more fun in a car that costs 4-6x as much as we can get the 987 Cayman for. I got great prices on mods and did a lot of work myself. On the track, it would be a different story. But for a street car, I get so much responsiveness and fun from my Cayman, and I am only $30K in with all of my mods. Buying a used FVD Brombacher exhaust this weekend.
I did not enjoy driving the 981 Cayman GTS with PDK more than driving my car. It was lovely, but not $60K moreso, to me.
