What engine oil are you using?
Which engine oil are you using?
How about DT 40 for south Florida....(never under 50 degrees, but sometimes 95)

Use Mobil 5W50. Porsche approved.

I use Castrol Edge 5W40. It's the fully synthetic one "boosted with Titanium FST" whatever that is!
I found the Mobil 1 to be too thin for the climate in South Africa (which is similar to Florida I would imagine but with more extremes). Min temp. 30F, max temp: 110F.
The engine just sounds better with the Castrol - smoother, less ticking. I tried Shell Helix Ultra but tossed it after 2500 miles as the start-up noise got worse (perhaps the oil degraded quicker). I change the Castrol every 6000 miles and have 50000 miles on the clock now with no problems. In fact, the engine feels more responsive now than when I bought the car (with 30000 miles).

He's the problem with DT40 (though a good oil):
1) requires an oil flush process.
2) not Porsche approved
There are over a 100 Porsche approved oils that are better then Mobil 0W40. Choose one. Two are mentioned already; Motul 5W40 Excess and Mobil 5W50. Done. Easy. Don't overthink it. Change every year or every 5-7,000 miles.

here is my 2.5 cents:
liqui moly 5w40 felt better by the **** dyno than 0w40 m1 fwiw, its wallet friendly too; will not be buying more m1, despite everyones raving reviews
I loved the agip 5w40 stuff but cant find it anywhere anymore, it wasnt cheap
really I feel m1 is my least preferred but my method is not very scientific
the other oil I really like is Total Quartz 5w40

Mobil1 0W40. I change it every 8k in my 987.2S and every 12k miles on my 986S, both intervals on oil analysis through Blackstone Labs. Speaking of which, the oil analysis shows that it's working pretty good despite a lot of track/autocross.
