It looks like the front lip extensions that go in front of the front wheels are also extended a bit more outward on the GT4 compared to the Spyder.

Yup... Also the portion that holds the lower lip... Trying determine it its a separate part detached from the bumper skin, if not that means the entire bumper is different from what the GT4. It extends further than the Spyder:

Default She's Finally Home

My first post. Thought I'd share. She's finally home after the European delivery program. Straight from the dealer to the garage and into storage for the winter...

you think the parts department can tell you if the gt4 and spyder have same bumper? I would love to add the gt4 front lip.

Congratulations! At least you got to drive it before storing for a few months. How was the trip in the Spyder? Any quirk or surprises we don't get to read from regular reviews?

I checked, they aren't the same. The difference could be very minor, -the parts guy didn't know-, but the part numbers for the front bumper are different. You can confirm this on the suncoastparts website also. I'm interested in possibly adding the gt4 lip to the Spyder also and am looking forward to seeing what that will take.

I think it's the lower part of the bumper where the lip attaches is completely different. Look at the GT4 I posted above. It doesn't have the lip installed (Porsche ships GT cars with the lip off to prevent damage. With this specific GT4 the factory forgot to send it with the car, thus why it is naked). The attachment point protrudes out further than the Spyder bumper. It is Looking like if you want the GT4 lip, you also have to swap bumpers to make it work.

I fear you may be correct. Is that extra piece something which attaches to the bumper, or is it all one? Replacing the entire front bumper makes the whole project not viable to me.. But I'm willing to do a little bit of work to make it happen.

The trip was excellent. The Spyder (like the boxster) is great for trunk space. We had 2 weeks worth of "Stuff" and it was not a problem. Using the rear trunk took a little extra effort due disengaging the roof from the header every time.

The ride, handling and dynamics were everything the jurnalists write about. The 2 things that had me concerned were gear ratios and clutch efforts. None of them are an issue.

The best part for me was passing slower trucks or being along a mountain side and hearing the great exhaust sounds! No electric vehicle will ever make me feel as good!
