981 base vs. modded Miata
I've long derided the use of a Miata as the perfect track car. It only has one feature, which is low price and inexpensive replacement parts ($8 rotors are a far cry from what a Porsche requires). I feel every German car I've owned has both been safer and higher performing for track duty.

Modded Miata, hell; 2016 ND Miata is supposed to have the power:weight of a 986 Boxster S straight from the factory. At just 2200lbs, wouldn't take much modding before it's pulling down 991 figures.

Thanks for posting. Interesting. Wonder what tires the Boxster had. The yokos on the Miata may have had a grip advantage. Have seen a few MX-5 Cup cars at TWS recently and they're quick. Would love to try one. Hope the guy in the video saved some money for a roll bar.
