Just in case anyone here might be interested...
I am working on getting a 911R & might
have to part with my 991 gt3 to be able
to afford that model. This is one of only
ten PTS 'Signal Green' gt3s built in late
'15 production after a PTS moratorium
was declared in early Fall of 2014 by PAG
effecting all remaining 991 gt3 to be built!
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...grey-gt3s.html
With no PTS gt3s built for MY2016 & very
few PTS gt3's built for MY2014, this 'Signal
Green' '15 is a rare bird in 991 gt3 circles!
And this particular car of mine is a low miles
example that has not yet been 'broken-in'.
Thus it has never been revved past 4500 rpm,
much less hit its unique 9000 rpm limit! So
no track events...just a few outings around
the neighborhood! This car, with just 705
miles (of which the first 15 or so were put
there by PAG), is the closest thing you will
find in the market to a brand new PTS 991
gt3 for sale...and it's the very rare & desirable
'Signal Green' color!
With the arrival of the RS, the 991 gt3 has
been pushed into the background here at
Rennlist. That is too bad because the base
gt3 continues to be the best looking gt car
in the current line-up! I was fortunate to
have driven a friend's 991 gt3 for over
1600 miles at a recent Porsche tour of
'West Texas' & I can tell you the 991 gt3
is the most exciting Porsche I have ever
driven in my life! And only the 911R
would prompt me to giving it up. Folks
here are speculating about the .2 991 gt3
& that is all fine & good. But if you want
PTS & think 'Signal Green' is a stunning
color (like I do), I would suggest that it
might make sense to look into buying
this one as a hedge against the 'unknown'
future of PTS & the end of naturally-aspirated
Porsche gt3s! So caveat emptor.
For those that didn't follow the story of these
10 'Signal Green' gt3's here on Rennlist, all of
them were specced the same by PAG/PCNA &
were 'not changeable' by the few lucky
dealers in the US that got an allocation. Only
two dealers were able to add PCCB to their build.
Otherwise, all 10 late allocation '15 991 gt3s in
'Signal Green' were identical! Here is the spec
of my car:
*******************
To my knowledge, the last of these rare 'Signal Green'
gt3s that came up for sale was at $225K. And that one
had 1562 'hard miles' put in demo track rides for IMSA's
car events by professional drivers!
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...y-gt3s-69.html
*******
Asking Price is $188,991. In-Service Date for my car is May 16, 2015.
The car is located at my home in North Scottsdale, Arizona. For more
information, please contact me via email at: <venegas356@gmail.com>.

Porsche Exclusive Atlanta
We stopped in and visited with Yana. She was great to work with and told us they didn't really know when PTS would be available. Apparently, only at the whims of someone in Germany. We were hoping to see the "wall" but it hasn't made it to Atlanta. Yana said if we want to see the wall, we have to go to Germany. She did bring some samples for us to look at. Birch Green (now called Light Green), Green Yellow and Arena Red Metallic. Meant to ask for GTS Red but got distracted looking at Leather to Sample books. Wanted to show a comparison of GTS Red and Arena Red. The GT3RS on the 991 GT3 forum purported to be GTS Red must have some photo editing if it really is GTS Red. As Eduardo says, you really have to see the colors in person because photos vary widely depending on lighting conditions and many other factors.

mamboo magic...
new color is 'mambagruenmetallic' (Y76).
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...l#post13111738
We were expecting this hue to be called 'Magic Bamboo Metallic'.
And we confronted Porsche Exclusive about its knowledge of this
upcoming color on a meeting I had with PAG back in 2015:

Is PTS a "VIP only" program now?
Eduardo's quest for the truth behind how the PTS program really works has gone silent lately.
Scuttlebutt on GT3 forum says only VIPs likely to get PTS on new GT3.
From what I was told during recent visit to PEC Atlanta the window for PTS rests solely at the discretion (whim?) of someone in Germany.
Have also been told that only 2 PTS cars per month are allowed.
Seems like they can and will do more (all 4 PTS Spyders were done at the end of 987 Spyder production).
Also, seems like they "open the window" at certain times: beginning of new model production year, end of model production year, ???
Recent color additions seem like they were added to "stem the tide" of PTS requests (e.g. Lava Orange, Miami Blue and now Chalk).
and still odd that no "green colors" appear on any color choices despite the rumblings above.
As to one of Eduardo's earlier posts, seems like added PTS capacity is available at Leipzig because dealers had several PTS Macans on their lots, some still available.
Still no closer to getting answers on how it works or when you can get one.
Specced a new 718 in Acid Green while in Atlanta....
waiting to see what happens

management of the PTS program is
getting pretty 'thin'. I recently sent an
email to the head of 'Porsche Exclusive'
in Atlanta to see if she can finally set up
for me my long requested meeting with
an official of PAG that actually controls
Paint-to-Sample at Porsche & can explain
its limitations, philosophies & goals. I
am flying to Germany in one month &
will be willing to make time to meet with
them to get better insight into PTS...so
that I can report back to you here at
Rennlist. But so far I have not even
received a reply to me email.
At the gt3 forum, I recently posted the
following post re: PTS & the recently
announced .2 991 gt3:
...
The rumor I read here on Rennlist not that long ago is
that the PTS window for the .2 991 gt3 will not open
until sometime in 2018. And even then, the chances
of landing one of the limited PTS slots will be extremely
difficult to get...if we go by our recent experiences with
PTS on the .1 991 gt3, .1 991 gt3 RS & the 911R.
Porsche has simply not kept up with the higher demand
for this increasingly desirable option. And the dealers
have learned to play games with PTS allocations now
that PCNA looks the other way (rather than punish)
at 'market price adjustments'. Combined with limited
allocations & the preferential treatment given to 918
VIPs, I am afraid that PTS will become increasingly
out-of-reach for the majority of 'regular' Porsche
customers.
Thus, this is the principal reason why I am doubtful
I'll get rid of my 'Signal Green' .1 991 gt3 regardless
the improvements just announced on the .2 version.
I don't believe I'll be able to replace it with another
PTS .2 991 gt3! And to me PTS has special significance
which will be hard be without on any future Porsche
custom order purchase.
As an admission to the reality that PTS will be difficult
to get on this new model, Porsche has made the decision
(wisely) to increase the 'special color' palette on the .2 991
gt3. So we will have, for example, 'Miami Blue' & 'Chalk'
added to the 'usual suspects'. Still, the best thing about
the 'True' PTS program at PAG is the wide diversity of colors
that can be ordered via the program. Even back in 2015,
when we last published the approved PTS list before it was
made 'confidential', the choices were pretty broad:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...91-gt3-rs.html
And it is now, in 2017, even longer...five pages in total!
There is no substitute for such a freedom of choice
in paint color for this special Porsche model!
I wish you best of luck with the 'Acid Green' 718
request. Let me know if you are approved for it.
Me...I am exploring going in a different direction
away from Porsche. I am presently looking at a
possibility of getting a Ferrari California T.

Thank you, JSF101. Are you yet in Arizona?
On a separate note, I am flying out to Germany tomorrow &
'Porsche Exclusive' has scheduled a 'normal' factory tour on
April 18th for me. The meetings I requested with executives
that run PTS at PAG was denied. And because the 'Exclusive'
customer consultation area and the vehicle delivery hall have
been recently demolished due to the construction of the Mission
E factory, they couldn't arrange for me to see of the 'Exclusive'
executives like I have done in the past:
https://rennlist.com/forums/991-gt3-...ly-2015-a.html
So I don't think I'll have much to report back this time around
for the readers at Rennlist!

Many thanks ! The Porsche leather interior primer is very informative!
Having purchased a few cars by spec/ordering such as the 993 C2S, a Boxster, UrS6 Avant and a VW daily driver ... I can tell you a full leather interior is appreciated throughout the life of the vehicle.
The sticky Leather Interior Choices - part 1 is a must read ! And if/when touring the Porsche Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen factory facility, do request the tour guide swing by the leather interior operation. Its an eye opener.
Thanks !
P.S. We live in Vail village as well, and once home starting in July, I'll be sure to reach out. Until then, Adios

2) Leather Interior Choices - Part 1
First, let's talk about what leathers Porsche offers. You will note that in the Configurator, they give you the following options:
a)Standard color
b)Special Leather
c)Two Tone
d)Natural/Special leather
e)Custom Colors
EDIT /Delete Text
Leather grade is not a matter of personal taste but of your budget! When all possible, order the highest grade of 'Natural' or 'Aniline' leather you can afford! I voted with my wallet. I ordered 'Carrera Red' Natural leather on my MY2012 Aqua Blue Metallic Spyder. I think it's a beautiful and striking interior which has kept to this day some of its original leather aroma! The quality of that 'Natural' leather is excellent and highly recommended. I am also lucky to have a rare Porsche factory leather interior on my well preserved 'Crystal Blue' 1970 911E Targa. That 'full' leather interior - door, front & rear seats, rear back and side panels - still smells like leather some 42 years later on my particular 55K original mile vehicle!

Thanks Eduardo, I found item 2 esp. interesting and informative as I just put in an order for Boxster with full leather in Espresso/Cognac.
I also chose the Alcantara sport steering wheel and (manual) gear-shift ****, which adds not just another texture but a contrasting shade -- charcoal -- into the interior color palette. With the sliver chrome trim between leather hides picking up the GT Sliver exterior paint and the exterior painted roll bar/headrest-surround, it made for a good look in the configuration visual....
Cheers,

Just had a visit here in Colorado from Steve & Sherry F.
of San Antonio's 'Long Horn Region' as they slowly worked
themselves back to Texas after attending the PCA Parade
in Spokane! They are the lucky owners of 2 (two) 'Racing
Yellow' gt4's & drove with one of them from their home in
Austin to the PCA Parade in Washington State!
They are the original owners of the MY2012 987 Spyder in
'Speed Yellow', one of only four 987 PTS Spyders known to
exist at least in North America if not the world! Here is a
photo of it I took at the 2012 Parade in Utah when Steve
owned it!
***
Steve is an Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs) graduate
& a former F4 Phantom fighter pilot!
But in spite of that, his favorite color is not Wild Yonder 'Blue'
but 'Yellow'! Go figure!
