982 GT4 Spyder?

hah nice! I am thinking LWBS no leather and Lava Orange outside. Would be nice to get matching lava orange seat belts and the same color stitching on the inside or I could do without that too.

I wonder if the allure of more power is a generational thing with older guys generally content and the younger bucks wanting more.
The allure of spec'ing your own car I can definitely understand. Nothing like it. The car feels personal to you when you've labored over every option. For those with a 981 who want to step up to the 982 for this reason alone, I TOTALLY get it.

Also as for the added horsepower I kind of feel that I miss out on that top end rush. The Spyder is plenty fast as it is but it is so competent in the corners I feel like it would be great if it had that bit more of a straight line oomph. I am hoping the added horsepower would negate the effect of that tall gearing somewhat.

Porsche’s launch schedule is throwing me... they just announced the Panamera GTS... so LA will be the 992 and the Panamera GTS... that means definitely Geneva or beyond?

Not sure what's throwing you. The 2019 Geneva Show starts on March 7, 2019. If the 982 Spyder is introduced there it would be consistent with the 981 Spyder intro, no? The 981 Spyder intro was in April 2015 at the New York Show with the car debuting as a 2016 model. A 982 Spyder debuting at Geneva in March 2019 as a 2020 model would thus follow the same pattern, right? If the 982 Spyder is a 2020 MY, then 4 model years would separate it from the 2016 981. This, too, would be consistent with the 4 model year spread between the 2011-12 987 Spyder and the 981. Seems about right to me. Any earlier intro of the 982, say at the LA Show, would be, well, earlier than the precedent Porsche has followed on previous Spyder models.

I was hoping for a LA debut (like the 987 Spyder) for late spring deliveries...now with a March/April debut (like the 981 Spyder) that means deliveries will be November.... meaning realistically Spring 2020 to actually drive it.... personally anyways. Way too far away.

I guess the only thing that confuses me is the GT4CS will be racing in January. Which would point to an earlier unveil for at least the GT4 since they are the same spec minus the race upgrades.

Three Wheelin'
One likely scenario is that GT4 could debut along with GT4 CS at ROAR. The Spyder could be unveiled in Geneva (March) or later. 981 Twins had separate unveiling as well, though may not be that far apart. Regardless when announced, these are '20 MY. Potentially, GT4 deliveries could start sooner than Spyder's. No one knows if the Spyder would have the same specs as GT4 (though widely expected to be the same); so, there will still be an element of surprise/unknowns cooked into Spyder's launch.

This in from a pretty good source but... just passing it forward.
GT4/Spyder, new engine, flat 6, 4 litre 420hp, manual at launch and PDK a year to follow, 2 year run, Spyder will have same engine with no additional tuning, same setup as GT4, small difference in steering wheel design, – December

I ran all the speculation through my AI algorithm and it’s saying we’re gonna get a 3.9L flat 7. With solid lifters.
