Default 2016 981 GTS Boxster - Power Kit

I just purchased a GTS for my wife and we are doing a few littlethings to it now to make it our own. Long story short after having a GT4the 3.8L was definitely welcome over our previous 981’s. For this car our preference was the Spyderbut due to the loss of creature comforts, appearance (don’t like the reartonneau) & additional price we chose a GTS. Off topic, but I still can’t believe theSpyder did not get all the GT4 goodies what were they thinking!

Currently we have a set of “Race” headers and I am lookingat a IPD plenum & tune to bump the power up with the easy bolton’s. I have used Cobb for years but there is noway to disable the secondary 02’s now that everything is locked down in themaps that I am aware of. The question isdo I try and find a tuner that can disable them or just run an O2 simulator /nonfouler to clear the codes for catalyst inefficiency? Sending the ECM off for tuning is notsomething I will consider, it will have to be a handheld or nothing.

I appreciate everyone’s time and responses!

Talking to a cobb tuner they can just disable the 02. Added benefit you can get a protune and take advantage of the plenum and headers.

All 4, and run on open-loop all the time??? I wouldn't want that. But maybe I read your comment wrong.

OP, why not even 200-cell cats? That's nothing compared to stock (700, I think), but you'd avoid the freaking fuel smell, and basically lose no performance. Surprised your wife would like that. Fuel smell stinks all your clothes, something no women I know of like.

Just the secondary since the headers don't have cats.

It was clear that's what you want, but was referring to Yogi's comment. Why no 200-cell cats? Guess you read my post before I edited it. And those might not trigger a CEL, so no need to tune the rear O2 sensors off. Let us know how your car performs with the headers, and also take a quick video of the new sound. By the way, both my brother and myself chose GTSs over the Spyder/GT4 too, for the same reasons (lack of creature comforts, mainly), but also for the lack of a taller 6th (or 7th), so both are PDKs. If I don't have cats, my wife would never set foot in my car, so would never do that. Plus I also don't like smelling like a mechanic, like with the Cobra replica. Even a small 200-cell cat gets rid of the smell, and basically no change in performance. But to each his own, of course.

go to the cobb site and download one of their free stage 2 tunes and that will clear your CEL for free. You should be using a stage 2 tune if you have headers.

Great taste in your cars! Though the manual is phenomenal so hard to beat our PDK Macan is aboslutly perfect but both of us want to row the gears in the toys ;-) As for the smell yes you are 100%, since I have them already I am going to try it out and see how it is. Since there are no choppy cams I am hoping they are not too bad. I have had good and bad luck in the past but the worst are always big cam cars with a lot of overlap.

That is good to know, I need to jump on and check it out but I did not see a STGII for it previously only the GT4.

Thanks for everyone's help!

Been an absolute pleasure working with you sir! Cannot wait to see how things pan out with both cars, especially the GTS

Personally I think my GTS is kinda perfect as it is, it doesnt really any more sound or power cos it just flows, doesnt mean to say it can be improved. I will be on the list for a PDK Spyder or GT4 though
