Anyone with a 981 experiencing the "PSM System Failure" alerts? I have had this indicator pop up a couple of times in the past. After taking it to the dealer, the diagnosis was:
- we see this on cars that are not driven often, and it is sometimes triggered by low battery voltage
- there were no fault codes stored
- just drive the car and if it happens again it will clear
Today was a first with the alert popping up every time I drove the car (which was about 6 times). It was extraordinarily hot here today - 105F - and I am wondering if that is exacerbating the issue.
Yes. Not an uncommon issue. Apparently it most often manifests itself in hot weather. The culprit is the brake light switch. Just had mine replaced about 2 weeks ago. No problems since.
Thanks guys. Problem solved. Stopped by the dealer this am and suggested they look at the brake pedal switch position adjustment. There were a few folks that had this problem on other boards that pointed to the brake pedal switch as the problem. Apparently if it is not adjusted properly it causes the car to throw a PSM System Failure code. Sure enough this time the car threw the code and Porsche apparently is issuing a TSB (or will soon issue a TSB) for the problem. Great job by the dealer - stopped by with no appointment and they spent 45 min on the car (Porsche of Spokane).
