Default New Member Introduction...

Hello All,

I joined your forum tonight and I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Eddie. I live in Scottsdale, AZ.

I currently drive a '96 Miata (only 24,000 miles) and an LS 430 and in all likelihood would sell both to get the Cayman.

I drove a Cayman R on a track last November. Man, what fun it was and I knew right then a Cayman was in my future. I also drove an R8 and an F430, but I just loved the Cayman. My lap times for the CR and F430 were within 1/4 second of each other too.

I originally was thinking a CS, but may change that to a C as it will be my DD and track time will be infrequent, if at all. Also, I prefer a Gen 2 due to the IMSB issue with the Gen 1's. Price wise, a G1CS and a G2C are about the same and within my budget.

I've learned to be patient when looking for cars and it paid off with my Miata purchase last summer. I plan to take the same approach with my Cayman.

I hope to learn much here and contribute to this fine forum.

Eddie

P.S. I have a question regarding private Cayman sales. I'm primary looking on Clist and autotrader.com and use kbb.com as my pricing guide, yet almost every listing is 2-5 grand higher than KBB? Is KBB that far off on Cayman prices or are sellers not in touch with the market?

price will depend on location too - sometimes you can get a great deal from a dealer, if they take a trade-in that they don't' want to keep, they'd just as soon sell it to you as to a wholesaler

Asking vs selling price.

We bought our Cayman ('07) from the local Porsche dealer and got a fantastic deal. It was a trade-in from the previous owner.

welcome to forum.

do you currently live in Vegas?

just asking because I do

If you live in las vegas, i can refer a dealer in Gaudin porsche.

I recently purchased for 2014 cayman S, and the guy who I worked with, seems a good person to deal with.

pm me if you need my help.

ps. shoot, I just realized you are from AZ. sorry. haha

Yes, my screen name does confuse people sometimes.

I only love to visit Vegas; if I lived there, after six months, I'd be living in a van...down by the river.
