NO DRONE at all…I took it on Hiway today….65, 75 and 85 mph….it almost sounded stock at cruising speeds…I could do another Gopro on Hiway if you want. I had the Top on. ….another owner with a Caymen said the Same thing..I talked to him before I bought my FVD.

are you able to switch the exhaust on and off?

You can't switch the exhaust on and off with a button…BUT, If you get out of sport mode, and drive with a light foot on the Gas…like normal driving….then its not very loud at all…..a bit more than the stock exhaust, but sounds better, even when going easy with it.

I see New Orleans on your plate in the video. Are you in the NOLA area. I live in Slidell. Would like to come by some time to hear your exhaust in person. perret at bellsouth dot net

Hey - question to all you non-S 981 owners. I swapped out my 08 TT cab for an 08 base Boxster yesterday for a drive up the coast and LOVED it. The engine revs faster and I got to shift lots, keep it in the higher revs without going a million miles an hour. I'm considering ordering a base 981 like yours mgerber. Will add the X73 suspension package and the PCCBs. How are you guys doing with the base 981 after months of ownership? Still having fun? Anyone want for more power?
Joel

I have a 2.7' hate the word base, and while more power is always enticing I seldom use all the power available. It will pull to redline with no problem. 70 in second gear easily. If you are going to track the car you might want the S but you can still have plenty of fun with the 2.7

I am still very much enjoying the car. As you observed the engine loves to rev and it is a lot of fun with the 6MT. For how we use the car, which is for touring with the local PCA and occasional solo drives through the twisties, I have never wished we had more power. Definitely get the X73. We have PSAM and I wished we had done the X73 after reading about how most that have it do not think it is too harsh. The only mod I am going to do (and hopefully next week when the exhaust arrives) is an aftermarket catback system. The car is too quiet for my tastes with the stock exhaust.

Tx guys. Great viewpoints. It's interesting with all the attention on power and 0-60 these days, yet most of us use our cars for PCA tours and jammin' them up in the twisties. I'll keep you posted...
