I guess we all have a 930 connection...my father had an 87 930 3.3 Turbo that I used to get to drive on occasion many years ago (his was black on red). A real beast but lots of fun.

Vic, I'm in RI also and there are a bunch of us Pcar guys from RI and Southern MA that meet up 1 or 2 Sundays a month (when the weather is nice). On occasion one guy brings a white on red 1986 3.3 Turbo. I will PM you the link that's here in the New England subsection of Rennlist. Hope you will come out and join us when you can.

Btw, another option in terms of chassis/power is to do what I did. I bought a base 981 Boxster but had BGB Motorsports do their 3.8L conversion magic on it. They install a crate 3.8L 991S motor (400hp), 991 front brakes, some suspension bits, and some custom aesthetic touches. There's a thread here on RL of the conversion they did on a 981 Cayman. I test drove new 991S but really loved the agility and feel of the 981 chassis (I had a 987 Boxster S) but wanted more power. I considered the RUF 3800S which is a great car and obviously carries cachet of RUF, but a lot more expensive plus would have been a ~6mo wait time.

That is a very interesting move you made with 3.8 conversion on the Base 981. What was the wait time after you delivered the car to BGB?

About 2 months in total for my car. I think in general BGB tries to get these done in 30-45 days, but I sent them the car right after July 4th holiday so caught them in the middle of busy race season in July & August.

Excellent. Thanks for the info. Obviously, the wheels on the 981S should weight less than those of the 991 as they are not as wide, but it certainly shows a significant weight difference between the Carrera S wheels and Sport Techno wheels. Thanks that's very helpful.
