Default Boxster price increase

The Porsche configurator indicates a $1200 price increase for the Boxster S. I can't ever recall Porsche raising the price of a model in an existing model year. So the base price of some 2013 Boxster Ss is $60,900, but for others it will be $62,100. Bizarre.

The 2009 997.2S and the 2011 Spyder had price increases in mid-year if I'm not mistaken, to name a couple of examples. Pretty sure they were less than 1k increases, though.

The 2014 Caymans are being released in June. I wouldn't be surprised if the more expensive Boxsters will be 2014 models.

The US Dollar to Deutschmark, err Euro exchange runs havoc with European manufacturing. While the bean counters buy currencies to hedge, the currencies have swayed excessively, hence the price increases.

That's true but why hasn't there ever been a price reduction when the exchange rate was in their favor

Yeah, that's a blast from the past. In retrospect $62,100 for the 981S was the automotive bargain of the century. Now your options are limited to $74,000 for the four-banger 718S or $88,900 for the 4.0L GTS.
