Default 2014 Cayman S - Thoughts on this Build?

Put me in the camp of loving the new Cayman. May build, July European Delivery (Zuffenhausen).

2014 Cayman S 6spd
Racing Yellow/black partial leather with yellow seat belts
20-inch Carrera S wheels painted in Platinum
Sports Plus seats
Deletion of model designation
Model designation on doors in black
PASM
PTV
Bose Surround Sound System
Convenience Package
Ventilated Seats
Sport Design Steering Wheel
Smoking Package

Changed from GT Silver over Red because I had originally wanted the Yellow, my wife wasn't a fan (too flashy). Then I told her the price differential going with Yellow over partial black leather and she became a fan. Removed SC and upgraded to the Sports Plus seats from Sports seats. Haven't changed the configuration since placing the order a couple of weeks ago so I take that as a good sign. Total cost of this build is C$84K. Americans are very fortunate the market there is so competitive!

92K! Porsche has priced their cars out of almost everyone's reach.

$92K Canadian. They pay more than we do in the US.

That said, even in the US, Porsche pricing seems to have made a dramatic jump with the 981/991 series of cars.

I would certainly buy a base 991 ahead of that build - the same money!!

I've been struggling to make new CS under 70k...

I'd remove:

Leather interior
Bose Surround Sound System (why? unless this is the NAV option)
20 inch wheels

It won't have much on it at <$70K when the base price is $63,800 before the $950 delivery.

I'd find a nice Cayman R.

Oh wait - I did!

Oh yeah,helpful.
Personally (and I'm saying this having yet to drive a 981 Boxster with the option), I wouldn't buy a Cayman until it's available with the 981 Boxster's Sport Suspension option. It's cheaper and likely works better. PASM keeps getting better, but I still prefer the handling/ride compromise and balance of the conventional springs and dampers of the Spyder and Cayman R's sport suspension.

I think you could also save some money with the 19" wheels... I wonder if the 987 Spyder wheels work on the new car?.

GT Silver is very pretty, but if you haven't seen it, take a look at the Platinum Silver - it's a lot less expensive, and IMO looks better with the red interior. Personally, I love the new agate grey.

Ditto - I was surprised this option was not offered at launch.

I'd lose the 20 inch wheels, the full leather interior, sport chrono. I priced one the other day at 86k, but not including ceramics which I'd want...so pricey though

Feedback on your build: I'd drop the 20s for 19s and also drop the full leather. GT Silver is nice but regular silver looks great too and is a lot cheaper.

Here's my current build (US prices)
Notes:
I might add PDK, still going back and forth on that. I have never owned an automatic.
I am also waiting for the Sports Suspension and will probably add PTV to that.

I think that regardless of what anyone says here the car is being built for you, and you should get it the way that you would like it.

As I am not you, I would order it in a different color, lose the 20", PTV, and PASM. I like a nice sound system, and even though replacement cost is high, I would get the PCCB's.

I am going with the 20" wheels so I can get them in the Satinmat finish. This isn't a DD so hopefully won't be replacing tires too frequently. Going with full leather so I can get the red interior. I am up in the air on PTV and SC but I think PASM is a must with the 20" wheels.

Default Comments on your build and my build list

2014 Cayman S 6spd; why no PDK?
GT Silver Metallic/Carrera Red
20-inch Carrera S wheels painted in Platinum (or black if available); I'd go with 19's; 20's look too big and are EXPENSIVE
2-way Sports seats
Leather interior: Why?
Bi-Xenon lighting; Good
Deletion of model designationGood
Model designation on doors in black
PASMGood
PTVAre you racing?
Sport ChronoRacing?
Bose Surround Sound System Good

As you can see, while nicely optioned, it is pretty stripped from a luxury perspective. Keep in mind my second choice is/was a Cayman R but I as I said, I am a fan of the styling of the new Cayman. Again, comments appreciated. Works out to about C$92K before tax. Gulp!
