Looks like that may be the plan?

All that torque would finally challenge the mid-engined chassis...

What is all this speculation about the Cayman S getting a 2.5L turbo 4? I can't say I dislike the idea, though it is strange for one of these cars to not have a boxer engine.

Who said it isn't going to be a boxer engine?

The rumor is that it'll get a flat (boxer)-4 with turbo. 2.5 L.... why can't they do it on 3.4 L... but that's just crazy talk, apparently!

Everyone is going to small, turbo engines because of the Global Greenhouse scam... no CO2 allowed.

I will believe that torque number when I see it, by the way...

Mildly tuned Subaru WRX STis are pushing those numbers from a 2.5L turbo all day long, so I wouldn't be surprised... But we're talking base 911 money for that Cayman right?

They can, but that doesn't mean they will.

I wish it had more too, but they won't let that overlap with their 911.
I have read similar opinions on many websites. My take is slightly different. It's that as my old 996 manual box C4 did 0-60 in 5.2 sec and the manual box 981 Cayman S is said to do 4.9 sec it's a plus to me.

That and we know the next ones will be faster notwithstanding the rumored turbo four.

Honestly, as I won't track the car, any sub-5 sec car on public roads is pretty darn quick.

I have been interested in the Cayman since its introduction. I prefer the configuration to the 911. I once had an MR2 and that thing was more fun than anything I knew if terribly underpowered.

The only bit that kept me back from a 986/987 was that at 6'-4" I did not comfortably fit in one. I need to confirm I do in the new one. The first opportunity I'll have should be in April at the NY Auto Show.

I'm 6'2" and hoping for a few extra inches of leg room in the incoming cayman. Was a show stopper for me on the last gen.

I'm guessing you got it. It's there in the Boxster, so I am just assuming.
