Count me as one of those who likes it better than before. I like the longer hood, more "British-esk," like a MGB GT. Which I considered to be the best roadster to coupe conversion design ever.
I like the the more slanted windshield, looks faster and more aerodynamic. Definitely looks more like a coupe now. 987's is more upright, and the roof is very domed, and definitely a sense of afterthoght. Not just the 987's, but I've always found the roof of most 2 seater coupes to be awkwardly designed. I think a bit more elongation and less dome curvature of a 2+2 roof is more natural, and the new cayman definitely has more of that.

I was really looking forward to this car... I really like the boxter, but the Cayman looks bloated and square. I love the 991, but this one is not my fave.

I can hardly believe anyone would criticize the looks of the new 981 Cayman. It's a gorgeous car that is poised to assume the mantle of sporting greatness once occupied by the 911 now that Porsche has relegated the elongated 991 to genteel luxury status.

I can't wait for the S version with black wheels and a throaty exhaust. I may want to get me one of these!

Agreed. I guess we'll see which car it really is, soon enough.

That's apparently the "official" design, and why wouldn't it be? It looks just like the Boxster with a flatter, sexier roofline. Here's more.

Again, I think this car is a huge hit.

main units for headlights and rear lights on Cayman will be the same as Boxster .. I don't think Porsche will spend the money for different lights ..

Porsche is trading curves for creases. I like the 987 Boxsters and Caymans better, especially the Caymans. The 987s are closer to a retro European sports car where the 981s could be Japanese, think Z, not that there is anything wrong with that, but the creases are becoming more over done.
I like my cars (and women) curvy!

I'm also a fan of curves, I especially like them when they're pronounced like the rear hips of the 993 C2S or the 930 Turbo. The Spyder has to be one of my favorites though, it really enhances the already beautiful curves of the 987 and really accentuates them.

Having said that I also like hard edges and creases and won't object to a nicely done design. Testarossa, Countach, F40 and NSX come to mind. I'm also a fan of Cadillac's recent products, nicely done and unique.

Gone in the 981 models is the classic Porsche view of the road that overlooks two rounded headlights. The 981 view overlooks flared front fenders (with creases) that more closely resembles a Lotus or dare I say, a Corvette. I'd shoot a photo but my car is in the shop (again).

And the 981 isn't curvy? Is it maybe more a case or your preferring the door lines a little more flush?

The one thing I haven't liked about the Caymen styling, and which is still present in the preview photos, is the curvature of the roof where it meets the windshield. I wish the factory could have made the roofline flatter where it intersects the front glass, a sleeker look IMO.

Oh well, can't have everything. Still a great design.

Looks impressive! I believe the Cayman is gonna turn out great, one of the best looking coupes.
