Default 997S \ 981 BoxsterS

I took my car in for servicing this morning, and of course I had to check out the Porsche showroom. Although I've already test driven both the base and Boxster S, I still can't resist checking them out in person. It just so happenes that the dealer has a black 981 Boxster S in their showroom, and a 2010 997S on their parking lot mabe 40' from the Boxster. I was able to stand between both cars to get a comparison. I have no idea what the actual dimensions are, but the Boxster looks a little wider, lower, and has a more aggressive appearance than the 997S. At least that's the way I see it, but of course it's all subjective. If anyone is in the Baltimore area, the dealer is Len Stoler Porsche. You may want to check it out. I'd like to get another opinion.

Dimension 981 Boxster S

Length 172.2
Width 70.9
Height 50.4
Wheelbase 97.4

Dimension 997 Carrera S

Length 175.6
Width 71.2
Height 51.2
Wheelbase 92.5

Maybe the longer wheelbase makes it look bigger? Otherwise, it's smaller in every dimension.

Bill - Thanks for the info. There's no way that I could detect the .3 of an inch differance in width between the cars which were over 40' apart. So the design of the fronts of the cars undoubtedly affected my perception. The Boxster is .8 inch lower in height, but the Boxster had its top down whereas the 997 had its top up, and that probably made it look a little higher than it really is. Nevertheless, the 981S is a more visually appealing car in person than the 997S, at least IMO.
