Does anyone know whether the earlier 987/997 wheels will work on the 981? Thinking of track wheels/tires (don't want to have to run 20" track tires, if they even make any).

 

Nope!

Wheel circumference is larger, the 987/997 wheels will be too small.

 

The 981 offers 18"-20" options right? I mean the offsets, for now, though will need to check what sizes will match the overall diameter.

 

Yes, options offered are 18"-20". I guess the enlarged brakes on the base 981 rules out 17". Base 981 brake diameter is more or less equal to 987 S brake diameter, which required 18".

I have no info on the offsets.

 

Offsets are very similar, we have fitment information readily available. You will have no issue running widebody offset wheels (11+40) at the rear or 10+35 at the rear for a 265 or 275 rear.

You need atleast 18s, 17s are out with the 981.
