981 Forum!! How long will it take?
I mean REALLY! The 991 forum was up WAY before the actual cars arrived. What's up RL?

Still plays with cars.

Given the relatively low activity level in the Boxster and Cayman forums, the new versions will be discussed in the existing forums.

Not at all. It just seems the Boxster gets no respect. <G> Why doesn't the new model deserve its own forum as does the 991?
Then why does the 991 get its own forum. Actually I never understood why all the water cooled 911's AND Boxsters/Caymans were separated into forums anyway. i.e. all Boxsters/Caymans (986,987,981) together, all 911 (996, 997, 991) altogether
But if you're going to do it, at least be consistent.
Just sayin...

Why is there a Cayman S specific forum? That makes ZERO sense to me, and would dilute the activity level in the 987 forum.

The forum structure is utterly inconsistent and confusing. New people not aware of the structure will not know where to look for e.g. 981.
"987" is as much Cayman as it is Boxster, so the division into separate "Cayman S" and "987" forums is confusing and plain stupid. And why a "Cayman S" forum? Where do the Cayman R people go? And base Cayman?
There are logical ways of solving this:
A model structure, independent of version:
- Cayman
- Boxster
A version structure, independent of model:
- 986
- 987
- 981
Or split it both ways, but this might not be good from a forum activity standpoint, since there will be too many forums:
- 986 Boxster
- 987 Boxster
- 987 Cayman
- 981 Boxster
- 981 Cayman (to come)
The two first options are probably the best ones. I can live with both.
The worst solution is sticking to the current confusing structure...

I agree, the lack of organization is probably a big reason we don't see much activity in these forums. Cayman owners will go to their forum which is rarely looked at and eventually they go to Planet 9 where there's much more activity.
I would vote for model separation:
986
987
981
