Default Current 981 hot deals

I am currently on my 3rd 981 Boxster and I think meanwhile I have a pretty good idea of the market of the 981 family. I am still actively monitoring the market pretty frequently and I see here and there some good deals. I thought I start this thread to post any hot deals I find and would encourage other people to do the same. Post any hidden gems you find online with associated link and write as much as you can to help others who are looking for a new baby for their garage.

With that being said, wanted to start with this nice base 2013 981. Seem to be decently loaded and is in a pretty good shape. In carfax there is a small accident but apparently not anything serious since two years after the accident the car was sold as a Porsche CPO (Porsche doesn't certify cars with frame damage or any other serious damages). The car has just below 30k miles and the services seem to be up to date. But if you buy an 11 year old Porsche, you should probably add at least another 2-3 thousand bucks for few major services including PDK service. I would be very surprised if it was already done on this car. Always recommend a PPI but it is up to you.
The car is listed at BMW of Tampa: https://www.bmwoftampa.com/inventory...rader_listings
I don't know this dealership and don't know what hidden costs they add to their advertised pricing but the listed $38,318 seem to be a pretty good price for this car in this shape and low miles. If you can negotiate the price down a little, that would make this deal even sweeter.

Few other things to consider when you buy this car (some tips are also general for all the other 981 you will start to see in this thread):
- The way they took the pictures of the door panels is very suspicious so I assume both door panels are de-laminated. In this case I would send them to Pedro and it will cost you with shipment and everything around 800-900 bucks. If you don't know what I am talking about, just use the search function or google it.
- Check both the heater and AC properly, it seems they had an issue with it last year, not clear if it was fixed.
- If you don't do a PPI, get a good code reader a see if it spits out any codes and see if there is anything fishy going on (too many misfires etc.)
- After you buy the car, bring it to a good indy and have him do an oil change with proper oil and a brake fluid flush. A good independent mechanic will thoroughly check your car and give you recommendations about any open maintenance

Otherwise, good luck and hope this baby finds a nice home.

I hope moving forward we will see more deals here and I will continue to feed this thread with any other deals I find (but next time I will keep my comments shorter lol)

Ok, her my second one. For those of you who are looking for a GTS, I found this 2015 GTS but there are no pictures, so can't tell much about the condition. The car is a at a Porsche dealership, has 27k miles on and is priced $58k. Depending on the history and condition of the car, this could be a great deal, especially when you could push it down a little. But it is little suspicious that they are not CPOing this car and there are no pictures and no carfax report. It could be, that it is a new listing and they are working on all that. Otherwise, the car seem to be speced like the dream of many enthusiasts with manual transmission and X73 suspension. I would give them a call, don't think this car will last very long....

Update: Seem to be sold

You might laugh but I have found more than once 987 Spyders in mid-high 40s but each time there was something fishy and it was with one of these "bad credit, no problem" shops. You won't see these kind of deals here, at least not from me. But for the 981 Spyders, neither "bad credit, no problem" shops nor junk yards will give you any below 65k. The best value 981 Spyder and one of the very few listed in the country is this one: https://www.autotrader.com/cars-for-...ckType=listing
The car has only 10k miles and listed for $84k by a private party. Had one accident and the seller doesn't do a very good job to describe his car. But he posted bunch of pictures. If you are seriously looking for a Spyder I am sure you have already seen this one though.

I just asked the wife about that Spyder...she said I have my cars already. What a depressing start to this weekend.

I'm in the market for a PDK 981 S or GTS without a red interior...Seen a few that are great, but prices feel high to me with little movement from dealers

This one is also gone but for those of you who like to see a clean dream 981, here it is. Looks like the twin brother of mine with the difference that mine is a base and this is a S and mine has around 6.5k miles and this one has 4k miles :-)

I have a friend who is getting a PPI on a 981 Cayman today. Do you guys think the S is worth the premium? Seems to be about $8K - $10K more for the equivalent S?

Cheapest HP and torque gain you can get for a 981. An increase of 40 HP and 59 ft lbs.
I have the S and never look back at the cost difference.

I think it is worth the premium if you like torque. No replacement for displacement. If your friend drives like a granny, or like me wants to redline the car regularly, get the base.

If you don't live in Germany and can't enjoy the freedom of the Autobahn or you don't track the car stick with the base. Base Cayman/Boxster has perfect amount of power to enjoy on US streets without being at risk loosing your license. I think the base 981 is the perfection of automobile but everybody has to decide fro him/herself.

He's a young guy, newly married no kids (yet) and this will be his first P-car. I'm friends with his Dad who has an M4 DCT and we've all been having a hoot at our local Autox. Several instructors have Caymans so he's drank the koolaid. He plans to start with autox and possibly track days down the road. He will want to redline the car regularly.

It's also going to be his back road pleasure cruiser w/ his wife which is why he's getting a PDK even though he had his heart set on a manual (happy wife, happy life).

I know it's a NA flat 6 so don't expect much from a tune, but am I wrong? Are there tunes out there that make a noticeable seat-of-the-pants difference?

Didn't mean to derail this thread. I'm looking for a CS myself so please keep posting good deals you find.
