2014 981S (Boxster) Rear Shock Issue
I have a '14 Boxster S with 8600 miles. Bought at about 8200 earlier this year.
Brought it to a local Porsche-specialist shop that thinks the right rear shock is bad. The shock rattles when I drive over certain types of bumps (e.g. manhole). I described that rattle to them when I brought the car in. We also think that it's causing the car to feel a bit unsettled on the road over bumps, especially at highway speed.
I'm now getting pricing for a shock replacement. The guy suggested I replace both rear shocks to ensure they match each other in response, ride, lifespan, etc. I don't disagree in concept, but know there are other non-OEM brands out there.
Does anyone have suggestions on OEM vs. non-OEM shock brands? Should I stick with Porsche or is it better to go with something else in rear?

Unless you were upgrading all 4 shocks. I would stay with oem. For example you could upgrade to the x73 package or ohlins R&T. Obviously the upgrade is more expensive than swapping out two rear shocks.

981 GT4 Rear Shock Absorber Problem
PS: noticed you're not far away in Rockland County (I'm in Westchester). Any good local meet-ups you like?

Thanks for the comment. That's where I'm pointed as well. Don't need to waste any time trying to figure out what ELSE to use.
