Default left rear spoiler riser is not deploying properly

I have a 981 and I noticed the spoiler is a little loose on the left. When deployed the metal "riser" doesn't press against the rubber bushing that would ordinarily provide stability/rigidity while deployed. It hasn't had any trauma that I am aware of. Was at the track for the first time this spring on Monday and was getting an error code while coming down the straight about the spoiler that clued me in. Looked on YouTube and could find nothing relating to this issue. Thinking I might have to take it to the dealer unless anyone has an Idea. Don't know how to get access to the mechanism to examine it.

You can read through this thread for some ideas. https://rennlist.com/forums/981-foru...r-failure.html

Getting to the spoiler drive assembly requires removal of the rear bumper.

You're running a ducktail and using the riser?

You can code the spoiler to not extend at speed if you have access to a PIWIS or have an indie mechanic with one do it for you. That would eliminate the need to do a repair on the riser assembly. Also, IMHO, the ducktail doesn't look that great when raised. Only reason I haven't added a ducktail yet has been the coding required to disable the riser. There's been lots of recent discussion here with some handy owners with instructions on how to accomplish this. I'll be getting my own PIWIS and adding a ducktail sometime in the next few months. Yours looks tall. Is that the new Skyer one?

the spoiler was on the car when I purchased it. I agree that, stock or aftermarket, the deployed spoiler on the cayman looks kinda goofy. But it does provide some aero downforce, and I use the car mostly as a track car, so I want it to be deployable.

Quick Reply: left rear spoiler riser is not deploying properly
