Dealer told me my batter was at 60% capacity a few weeks ago, original battery as well.

I am at about 68%. Checking the CCA with a tester and it has about the same as an almost new battery in my Infiniti G37.

should be okay for a little longer.

I just bought a 2012 991S w/ 17k miles and the original tires and battery (estate sale find). Any suggestions on an aftermarket lithium battery that will fit without much modification and has quality components so it won’t explode?

FYI - You are in the 981 forum, not the 991. But the answer is the same anyway. Antigravity Batteries are the best but expensive.

Actually, per the manual for that device, that seems to be an inconclusive result? From what I read, it's telling you to charge the battery and retest it, hence the "Charge-retest" text in the display, isn't it?
Nevertheless, if the car is running fine after 10 years, that's certainly great.

EDIT: They also say it provides a result after 1 second of testing? That leads me to believe it's not really load testing the battery. Does it really generate a result that quickly?

I also used an old style battery tester (not digital) got about the same result, showing that it's still good. There is a way to test the battery while cranking the car, I haven't tried it yet with this tester.

That's fine, and I'm not calling you out or anything. I'm just stating that neither seems to be a load test, because you can't do that in a second or so. Personally, I don't put much faith in non-load testing, because you can get artificially high readings. I would also replace a battery that is this old, rather than dealing with a problem on the road.

Again, nothing against you, your testers, or your old battery.

My 2014 BS had original battery when I bought it in 2020. It was fine with no signs of failure until the second day of a track weekend last March. Weather was very cold and battery had enough voltage to power up but not enough to start. Jumped the battery and drove home. I had thought about replacing battery, but procrastinated, and it cost me. A few days and $220 later, A new Interstate was in the car. one of the cheapest and most durable maintenance items for our cars.
