Default 2014 981 purchase

Hi I’m hoping for some advice

I’m one click away from buying a 2014 981 GTS
31,000 miles (uk)
not due next major service till 51,000

this will be a daily run around, not getting massive miles, chooses the 981 instead of the 718 due to the flat 6 and then being vary rare, but now getting second thoughts on parting with nearly 50k on a car nearly 10 year old all be it with very very low mileage
is there anything I should be aware of?

any advice would be really helpful
thank you
Darren

This is a very fun car and extremely reliable. I’ve owned a 981 Spyder since new, and a recently sold 2014 Cayman S both of which are/were awesome vehicles. Get a PPI then buy with confidence!

Hi thank you

ppi not really an option,

worry was really just confident in buying a car although very low mileage, but with caution to it being a daily driver and functionality is it good enough for that reason
currently have a brand new Porsche macan abd its a great drive

I can’t think of many other cars that you could buy with more confidence than a 981 Porsche. They are totally bullet proof. I’ve put 33k miles on my 981 Spyder since taking delivery 7 years ago and have done nothing but maintenance. I didn’t own my 2014 as long but it was similarly reliable during my ownership experience.

I have a 2014 BS and I wouldn't call them bullet proof, see PDK repair thread, but I would buy another one without hesitation.

Needing new brakes at 31k is a bit soon. May be a sign of track use.

Not necessarily a negative, more of a heads up.

Excessive brake pad wear with PTV is normal. Sounds like a decent buy, given current uk prices. If you’re not purchasing from an OPC with two year warranty, I’d definitely have a full inspection first. Bulletproof they are not! Especially the PDK

I would have thought that only applied to the rears. I'm at 38K miles with original pads/rotors all around, and PTV equipped. I drive it fairly moderately hard, but not at track conditions.

I regularly track a 2013 Boxster S with PTV. In my experience with Pagid RS29 track pads and Sebro slotted rotors the rears last at least twice as long as the fronts. IMO excessive rear brake wear with PTV is aggressive driving on OEM pads and requiring PSM to intervene.

saying 'totally bullet proof' and with only 33k miles driven? probably not enough miles to give it that title.

My Infiniti G35 has 300k and I can easily call it bullet proof. The 981 cayman I have is at 30k without any issues, but won't call it bullet proof just yet. LOL

Ok how about pretty darn reliable not having a single repair visit in the 7 years since it rolled off the truck.

And yea Lexus vehicles are at a different level of “bulletproofiness”

Oops Not Lexus, Infiniti. I’d say 300k on a Nissan product is an outlier. LOL
