Are there any new ways to add a rear backup camera to the 981?

I saw some post from a few years ago, but are there any new solutions that may have come out recently?

thanks,

The names Joyeauto and Isudar come up quite often in the forums. These are add on tools that will allow the older PCM to run modern Apple/Android Carplay, and many do the optional integrated backup camera they sell while doing the upgrade. Another thing to do while in there is swap out the factory PCM hard drive to solid state, as the old platter style drives in the PCM units are now failing which will take out the entire unit when it does. Porsche will tell you that the only way to fix any problem is to replace the unit for 3K+, however the hard drive fix is less than $150 so many are doing it proactively.

Just do a Google search using either of the two names listed above along with :Rennlist.com or :Planet-9.com added as part of the search, and it should take you to several of the forum DIY discussions since most built in forum search features are garbage, and may or may not return any decent results

Here is one of several threads discussing the hard drive swap if interested: Changing PCM to SSHD

This is one that I like. Have this on our '15 I wish I waited for the front camera system to come back in stock when I originally ordered.

This looks like the solution I'm after. How does it install?

i had a car audio shop install mine. I believe that the NavTV module is installed by uncoupling one (or more) of the connectors at the PCM unit and inserting the module there, not requiring disassembly of the PCM itself. The larger part of the install is running the cables to the camera requiring some interior body panels to be removed and reinstalled.

thanks,
I just installed the Isudar board into the PCM of our Macan (same PCM as a 981), not only did it add the capability of a reverse camera but also a front camera... and Android Auto and Car Play!

Isudur doesnt make one for my head unit.

Thanks for the link, your PCM unit looks identical to the one in our 2016 Macan... surprised that you were told the Isudar board would not work? The product page even mentions " PCM3.1 (with factory NAV)"

What was this kit worth?

Edit: my unit does NOT have nav, its CDR3.1
I ordered from Isudar , then realized I ordered for the wrong head unit. Support confirmed they dont have one for mine. (took a week to get a response from them), they hadnt even shipped it yet.
ZZ2 does cost double, they only sell to dealers. But I still got carplay. Has a very small flat button to switch it back and forth from carplay to oem. Im happy, the bose system sounds pretty good.

Interesting... no matter you have your solution in and working!

If possible and so I can compare could you take a picture of your PCM so I can compare it to mine?
