A good pro tune isnt necessary, but it will really bring things alive in combination with the headers. The headers alone will not be that noticeable a change as far as performance goes, but great for the sound. A custom tune along with them can get you a significant performance gain that you will absolutely feel. High flow CAT headers and a proper custom tune are the best two mods that you can do on these cars from a bolt on performance standpoint, and are good for 40+ HP on a 3.4. This has already been discussed in detail in your other threads on the same subject matter where you asked the same questions there

IMHO you would be a fool not to get one. You made the jump from the 2.7 at a good price for HP reasons IIRC. Without the tune you're leaving easy GTS HP on the table for cheap money. Curious as to what led to the Soul product offering vs others.

Black Friday sale tune maybe? I dunno. I have no experience with any of the purchased tunes......yet. For the 3.4 and what you're doing, I imagine they will all work well. You'll have to pick which interface works best for you. Depending on haw fearful you are of Microsoft products, you may try and stick with an independent interface, but again, I have no experience with any of that.

FVD, Softronic and Cobb are very popular in the P car world with lots of happy customers. I personally have a Cobb because they were the first to crack the ESC encryption and offer a self install device, however the stage 1 &2 tunes that come on the device leave a lot of power on the table. You will need to factor in the cost of a custom "Pro tune" in order to get the full experience if you go Cobb.

The FVD & Softronic are already higher power personalized pro tunes tunes to begin with, so my choice may have been different if those options existed way back when I originally purchased. One big thing the Cobb device does have over the others is its not just a tune install device like the others. Its a code reader and reset device (no service resets). Its also a logging device that can monitor and log a huge list of functions on the car in real time with up to 6 gauge function displays while driving. The Cobb device can also be unmarried from the car and it and the tunes you were using sold to another user after the fact to recover a lot of your initial investment.

I have Soul catless race headers, a Softronic tune and Brombacher Sound muffler. Couldn’t be happier on track or street.

Mark, thank you for choosing SOUL Performance! We look forward to building your headers and giving you that WOW factor when you open the box like no other brand.

We recommend Softronic for the 981 with our long tube headers and I can help you directly and you can save a few bucks on the tune until December 20th.

The reason I like Softronic is because they have been tuning Porsche's for 30 years and its the sweet spot between an off the shelf tune and a pro tune. You will love the very linear power curve with the long tube street headers and the gain in power will be very noticeable.

We look forward to your feedback on our incredible products that are built better and providing you with anything else you need for your 981!

Dave @ SOUL

What are realistic (dyno provable) HP and TQ gains with headers and tune on a 981 GTS?

Assuming you get a custom tune, not just off the shelf, maybe 20-25 HP at the wheels.

Another vote for Softronic, fast turnaround, fantastic results. Horsepower increase across the rpm, not just at peak. You won’t be dissapounted.
