My first PDK car. Crawling along in 1st gear, it makes what I would call a clatter/chatter sort of sound. Not very loud but noticeable. Normal?

I planned to ask my dealer about it when I took the car in for the recall but my car is still not on the recall list so I may not need to go.

I would say no. I don't notice any kind of clatter/chatter (even faint) when moving slowly in 1st.

Any chance a cell phone would pick up the audio/noise?

Not the answer I was hoping for but thanks for the feedback! I only hear it in 1st gear and light load and it seems to work perfectly otherwise.
