Default Sunoco optima 95 unleaded without ethanol

What’s everyone thoughts on this fuel. I don’t drive that much and cost isn’t a huge factor

Maybe if doing a track day.

Also, it may not have the cleaning detergents that most Top Tier gases have.

93 octane from high volume, Top Tier station is my recommendation.

P 89, Excellence Porsche Tech Notes 2021 Edition paraphrased:

Ethanol is an important component in running the high levels of compression and HP in 981s without problems. It contributes to the health of these engines by keeping carbon deposits down, adding cooling effect, and increasing lubricity. The real advantage is that it slows down the burn rate in the combustion chamber. It would take an octane level in the 105 range to support the CR without an engine management system and ethanol. "Stick with the mix."

My takeaway after some additional confirmatory research: run a Top Tier 93 10% blend if available. If not, 92 or 91 10% blend. Always Top Tier. Never more than 10%.

pump gas is not guaranteed to be 90/10 mix. It states it can be up to 10% ethanol, the actual concentration of ethanol is a mystery.

The problem appears to be more than 10.
