Things are totally out of control right now. Is not only with the 981, as others mentioned, pretty much it is the same with any other car. Check out this 2015 911 S.

The car has 25k miles, is over 6 yeras old and they are selling it 5k above the original MSRP!! Is almost like in the real estate market, ultra low inventory and ultra high demand. There is zero bargaining and sooner or later they are going to sell the car for the asking price. It is an excellent time if you have a leased car you want to return or get rid of :-)

I’m very tempted to put my ‘14 BS up for sale. And wait it out. But I really love this car.

The relevant question is, what are you going to buy to replace it? Used cars are going crazy right now because (a) there aren't enough new cars on the market; (b) new cars are death-defyingly expensive and only going up from here; and (c) a lot of them suck.
It's a good time to sell your car if you don't want or need to buy anything to replace it. Otherwise, it's a bad time, probably one of the worst in recent history. Go to the configurator and price out a new 4.0L GTS with your current car's options... I think mine was around $120K.

Hardly the same thing, but this past winter I sold my ratty errand/landfill run '97 Ranger pickup because it was deteriorating and I wasn't using it much...Figured I'd buy a nicer one in the spring...Uh-huh...Just looked at a 2003 Ranger with 175K miles and I swear it was a flood/hurricane car...Dude was "firm" on $6500...For a $2500 truck...My error wasn't selling the '97. It was not having another truck before I sold it.

It’s tempting. I’m sure for most, the Porsche is not the primary car. It’s for weekends and fun. Sell and have a few thousand bucks, and wait til the next year or more when the prices come back to earth and find a replacement? Or enjoy the car now?
As great as the 981S is, it is not an investment. It’s a depreciating asset.
I have an SQ5 as a daily. Not quite as entertaining to drive as the Porsche. I also, have the Boxster set up as I want (X73, headers, exhaust, tune, etc.)
Decisions… Decisions…

That one seems like an unusual build. They spent 8K for the PCCB brake option needed only for heavy track use cars, but also spent a fortune on the overpriced Burmeister radio system which is useless on a car with PSE exhaust, along with many other creature comforts that add weight and are the opposite of what is wanted on a track car. Its like they didn't know what they intended to do with the car, or didn't know any better and just spent a bunch of money on needless options. The PCCBs alone likely have a lot to do with the asking price vs a similar car without them

I ran the VIN into Blackbook which is a more realistic value of what to expect, and also keeps up with the current elevated price trends factored in, and it comes back as 58K on that particular car with its mileage and options. That makes a lot more sense to me considering same year cars with similar options without the PCCB and Burmeister are going for around 50K

The second one was a great car too. This time I bought a PDK. Not as clean as the first one but it was a nice car. The problem with this one was that it had many small issues here and there and I had to invest constantly money to fix the problems. So at the end I decided to sell it, even though I had renewed so many parts. I look back on this one as well and think I should have kept it but I know at the end I was not happy with the car and it was the right decision.
I miss my porsches like crazy. I think the 981 is the perfection of automobile but at the end of the day you have to be happy with the individual car you are driving. I think for both cars it was the right decision to sell them.
My entire point for your case is, if you are happy with your Porsche and don't need the money, don't sell it. You will always look back and regret it. On the other hand, if there are major things what bother you on your car or if you really need the money, than sell it.
BTW: If I would have now the perfect Porsche, I would have kept it, even if they would have offered me double the amount I had paid for.

I got the deal of the century on my 28k mile highly optioned 2014 CS a year or so ago at $35k. It had track mods including half cage and race seats, so not as easy to sell to general public, but perfect for my purposes. Now that deal looks even better!

I have a 2013 Porsche Boxster S with 21K miles. The car stickered for $70K and I paid a tad over $65K.
I was considering buying a GT4 last year, so I went to Carvana to get an idea of what the wholesale value of my car was. They offered me $37,200 which I thought was good for a seven year old car.
Since cars have been appreciating so much, I decided to see what Carvana was offering in todays market. Their offer is $48,500.
That's a fantastic price until you go shopping for another Porsche. A local Porsche dealer has a 2020 Spyder for a $130K.
