There's nothing wrong with my '14 CS.

But I was perusing the various computer upgraders websites recently [FVD, Cobb, Softronic] and the notion of simply swapping a computer from the 3.4 liter 991 to my 3.4 liter 981 came to mind.

Will this work? These can be found in junkyards these days. And the box can be bought for significantly less than what these vendors demand.

Swapping out an ECU from a 911 would probably not work due to security measures, etc. Then you have different intakes, and other things which would also cause all sorts of issues. It would be easier to just get an aftermarket tune from one of the companies you mentioned

Why? For the 991 engine tune? Won't work. There are over a dozen computers in the car that talk to each other and the ECU talks to dozens of sensors, not all of which are common between the 981 and 991. Swapping out one with a non-matching variant would wreak havoc.
