Nice car. Love the idea of a stripped S. I'm considering a 981. Not sure about Boxster vs Cayman, and Base vs S. AND THEN what options. So I'm interested in your suspension upgrade.

Mind if I ask what you paid and how many miles are on the car?

Good luck with the car.

I vote to keep `em coming! It's very common in the Cobra world to have "build threads" so folks can document their build process while others get to use that valuable info for their own cars. I say keep `em coming. I'm interested in the coil over process myself. (The work involved, cost and benefits.)

Agree, this is your thread, so post 'em up each time you complete them.

19” rims will have cheaper tires but I believe 18”s will be the sweet spot if you do lots of tracking. Make sure to have the correct offset and to have clearance for your calipers. Apex does a great job explaining.
I have 18x8.5 and 18x10 Flow One wheels from Tire Rack. Ran them for 5 weekends with Hankook RS4s 235 and 275/40ZR 18 with no issues. They came mounted and balanced from Tire Rack. You should get some comments but believe others have used 18x9 and 245s in the front. The diameters of the Hankooks are a little less than OEM but the front/rear ratio is the same. Bridgestone RE71s are popular but the RS4s are cheaper, last much longer with a little less performance. Based on the tread left I should get another 5 weekends Will consider flipping them at some point. I drive to and from the track, normally Summit Point.

Very nice. Not seeing the ends justify the means for sport chrono, especially for a manual car. Swapping seats either; don't think there's enough of an "upgrade" to justify the cost/expense.

X73, shifter, and exhaust, all worthy upgrades though for sure.

Also great complementary garage.

oh I agree. But sport Chrono for me is purely for looks. Now that I know that something OEM could be there I can’t stop thinking about it

Just watched your video on short shifter swap. Well done and thanks for documenting. I have a question, would you post a pic of the top of the rod that **** and boot go over . Just curious if it's possible to cut off the top of the rod off to the height you mentioned in the video and still have the **** attach afterwards. I figured if the only difference is just the height. Why buy a new one, just trim it off.

I've lusted after the 981 Cayman for some time now, I'll have to follow your build.

I know you didn't purchase the exhaust from us, but definitely post up some photos and video when you've got it installed! Always glad to see a happy SOUL customer.

Also, deets on the E39? I may know a guy looking for one.

Great pick up, I got a very similar 15 S last November, but mine was a manual with PSE, sport chrono, and 18 way sport seats.
I may do the X73 and gt4 shifter on mine as well.

The Bridgestone RE71Rs are not available last I heard, not sure if Bridgestone is bringing a replacement. Tire Rack had a blow out of a few a week or two ago, but they're all gone.

So its possible to cut it but you’d also have to cut the middle notch in a bit
