Default Tommy L Garage manual 981 Cayman S Build Thread

Hello!
Long time lurker, first time P car owner. Picked up a stripper manual 981 S. Goal is to daily it, track it and in general have fun with it! I make DIY videos so this will come in handy with all the work I have planned for it. Already ordered x73, exhaust and have Sport Chrono coming so I can do a retrofit (yes - I will cut into the dash ).
My other cars are a manual 2017 M3 comp and an 18k mile e39.

I am looking for used track wheels so if anyone has a set please let me know.

I am also looking to downsize to 19 inch wheels. Anyone has a set? Or...what’s a popular setup to run?

Thanks for allowing me this introduction and I look forward to being part of this community!

Need to downsize to 19s. Any suggestions?

Base including manual 2 ways seats, which happen to be super comfy and huggy. Thinking of swapping to 981 manual GTs seats. Any thoughts?

Daily.

Garage queen. But will go on BaT soon.

Nice cars! Not a single boring car in your garage. Sport Design steering wheel, heated and ventilated seats, Carrera S wheels, already some nice options, not a complete stripper! You’ll definitely enjoy it. The Cayman was my first entry into a mid-engine car, the driving dynamics are just worlds apart from my former cars. Excellent video, looking forward to more, always nice to have more 981 content on YouTube. Welcome to team Porsche.

Cool, so where did you end up finding the X73?

Also, nice video, looking forward to the next ones!

Thank you!

I picked up X73 from suncoast. My car is a manual so they had some in stock (I know PDK version is out)

Also just ordered my SOUL exhaust today

Nice Video. You want to come video installing a Chrono Clock on my GT4. Im an DIY'er as well and with the leather dash, I am a little nervous to cut that. I have done a few video's myself, but nothing on your level of quality.

Congrats on the new car, sweet rides, and nice garage! Are those porcelain tiles?

19” rims will have cheaper tires but I believe 18”s will be the sweet spot if you do lots of tracking. Make sure to have the correct offset and to have clearance for your calipers. Apex does a great job explaining.

Thank you. And yes - the previous owner of the house had tiles installed. They need a thorough wash but I just bought the house 2 months ago.

I'm actually thinking of upping the sidewall on the 20 inch wheels for daily driving. And for the track yes - 18 is what I'm after

Looks familiar, too bad I didn't have a video available when I did mine last month.

I think you are going to like the X73...

PS.. My wife is great but one of her pet peeves is car parts in the kitchen and/or sink..
