I ended up going with Recaro SPG XL + Brey-Krause side brackets for 981 OEM manual sliders. It was fairly easy mounting the side brackets to the sliders. Just waiting for the seat to get in. I would like to run the belt buckle receptacle wire through the hole of the side bracket in the second picture. I can't seem to get the wire out of the receptacle end though to fish it through the hole. The square plug on the other end of the wire is too big to fit through as well. Does anybody know if it's possible to remove the sensor wire from the receptacle end without damaging it?

I think you are out of luck with trying to run the wire through that hole...you can just run it behind that bracket to then come under the seat and connect to the factory harness. You will not really be able to see any of that cabling once the seat is installed as there is hardly any room between the back of the seat (remember the seat is fixed back and will not rotate / fold forward) and the firewall / rear bulkhead.

The next thing to figure out is how you will secure the anti-submarine belt - I am not sure if the brey krause bar works with the factory sliders or not - I think they have a sub mount bar that attaches to the side brackets.

looking at the Brey Krause site, you would want one of these for your sub mount belt BK Part Number: R-9259

Hey Z3 - I didn't notice that you're a Michigander located in A2. PM me when you'll next be at Gingerman, Grattan, etc. Be good to meet and learn more about your instruction.

Best,

Thanks Brewerbry. I was figuring that I may just need to run the wire between the side bracket and seat. I'm not planning on going full harness yet, but yea BK R-9259 looks like it would be the ticket for sub mount.

Hey I know this is an old post but how difficult was it to fit a 21-in seat into the Cayman 981?

I have the same Recaro XL in mine, and it fit no problem... I might have some limitations on how far forward I can move the seat as the center console widens slightly, but I'm 6'1" so honestly haven't really tried to move it all the way forward.
