Engine issues stemming from ECU tune?

So I am driving on the highway and all of a sudden my car loses power. Engine light blinks and note pops up saying "go to nearest service station" or something like that. It was crazy. I was close to home so managed to get my car in the garage.
I kept the speed at 50 mph but felt a noticeable rattling in the cabin of the car.
Now, I cannot conclude it was the ECU tune but just speculating. I haven't had any issues in the last year or so but this was odd. Over the next couple of days I started my car and no engine lights came on.
Could this have been a freak issue?
FYI - I have a FVD Bombacher ECU tune in case it helps.

When did you install the FVD tune recently? Didn't you have a COBB tune? Did you remove the COBB tune before installing the FVD tune?

Good luck. When I had the Cobb "Stage 1" on my 987.2, anytime the outside air temp was below 50F, the car would go into limp mode almost immediately after it warmed up beyond fast idle. Cobb wasn't able to help, beyond asking me to pull various run logs, but I couldn't pull logs with a car stuck in limp mode. When I returned it to the OEM map, the issue went away. I was able to repeat the gripe multiple times. Eventually, I just went the custom route with Softronic and haven't had any issues since.

Av8,
I had the exact same issue you're describing; 2010 BS. In my case I had the Fabspeed upgrade on the tune to account for sport headers, IPD, and 92 TB. My indie worked with Fabspeed and Cobb to resolve -- minimal help from both. Finally replaced it with GIAC tune; seems rock solid now.

It's telling you that you have an ignition coil failure. Usually when one goes - the rest of them are thinking about it so most people replace all the coils at once, and the plugs since the coils are out of the way.
Could it be tune related? A guarded mebbe.... if the tune lengthened the ignition pulse in time - that will cause more current draw on the coil and a weak one might misfire. Not knowing what their tune does - I can't really say, but I can suggest that new coils/plugs might make it work just fine. It's only money. Don't buy bargain coils - they're not a bargain. Ditto on plugs. This is a case where dealer sourced parts might be really worthwhile unless you really know what you're doing.

I wouldn't suggest a "cheap" OBD-II scanner since that's all it really will read - OBD-II error messages. It won't read the Porsche specific codes and messages that are hiding away in all the modules in the car, so it's really quite limited as to what it can do. Plan on spending twice that for one with Porsche specific diagnostics - or even more if you want to go full boat.

Thanks for the feedback. Just had my 4 year done earlier this year so assume all was good from that. I will get the coils and plugs replaced by a mechanic (since I am not skilled with working on cars).

Most dealerships and many of the indies will replace the plugs at a major service, but coils are not routinely replaced. Might want to verify the age of your plugs before asking your mechanic to replace them. I just replaced the coils on my Cayenne at 152K -- probably the first time since purchasing it at 58K -- and doing so made a huge difference.
