I am very familiar with the previous generation Boxters and their "problems", so, now I'm looking to buy a 2013/4 --- Boxster
What are the major problem areas and what to look for?
tnx

Coil packs can fail without warning and will cause bizarre messages on the display like your transmission is failing or the car must be taken to a shop. Power will go to limp mode. Turn car off, wait a minute or so, fire it back up, it may run fine again for weeks. Mine did. Then they failed again. Both times I had a problem was during a track day. I replaced all of them ($300 in parts) myself and installed the OEM heat shields used on 911 cars with 9A1 engines and have never had another issue. The coil packs have also gone through a few revisions so make sure you buy from a shop that has the newest part number. Suncoast had the heat shields on their 981 parts pages when I was browsing around there a few weeks ago. I think they cost about $100.
Other than that, I'm not aware of any issues. My car has 47,000 miles on it, I've owned it since new.
