Here is my video I put together to do a Belt. Hopefully this will help people.

Very helpful and thanks to all who have contributed. I knocked this out last week on my 14 Cayman. The belt did have several cracks in it at 9 years and 41k mi. I used a 5/8 offset box-end wrench that I happened to have in my old tools as the 16mm I had would not fit into that tight spot. The 30mm socket I bought also wouldn't work with anything attached that would give me torque so I resorted to a large adjustable Crescent wrench. All in all not a bad job. Cutting the belt was the only way I could get it out.

Nice job, congrats! I wish I would have cut the old belt too, it took me way too long to pull that thing out and there was really not a proper reason not to cut it. The only reason I didn't cut it was because I was blindly following the instruction. Sometimes when you do a job for the first time and strictly following the instructions, certain common senses (and ones brain :-) ) are turned off. Next time I know better lol

Thanks for the vid.

Question. (I haven't had that compartment open yet). Any reason you can't stuff a towel under the bracket in case you drop it? Seems like you were stressing over dropping that spacer and/or bolt. I don't even know where it would go if you did drop it lol. I guess it's not recoverable w/o removing some panels underneath??

That's exactly what I did. I spread a rag under the spacer, then used a magnet to hold and place it. If it slipped off the magnet, it had no where to go. Saves a lot of potential headache.

Agree you can do it that way (or towl/rag AND the zip tie Just in Case?). I saw someone who was able to recover the dropped spacer with a bore scope cam and long grabby-thing.

Changed the serpentine belt today. Anyone know what the black box is? I was unable to disconnect the wires. Fortunately the wires were long enough so I could set the cover on convertible top. I haven’t found anything on it nor is it referenced in any of the how to videos.

Mine didn't have that. It looks like some sort of extra option or aftermarket add on.

It is the ANTENNA for the keyless entry option.

Only the Caymans get the duct tape and not the Boxsters. Haha

My Cayman has the entry and drive option and has the black module and even with release tools I have never been able to get that cable disconnected and also end up setting the antenna on the ledge behind the seat when removing the front engine panel. And yes I have the duct tape.

Note to anyone doing the serpentine belt. Use a Porsche belt from the dealership. I bough an aftermarket belt Dayco belt from a local auto parts store and within a thousand miles developed misfire codes on all cylinders: P0300, P0301, P0302, P0303, P0304, P0305, and P0306. (yes it is hard to believe and harder to explain that a belt can cause misfires but there were several cases reported here and Planet-9 so I gave it a try and swapped to a Porsche dealer purchased belt. Misfires are gone and I have put close to 1000 miles on the new belt to include spirited fun runs, Auto-X and long highway drives.) I'm sure others have replaced with Dayco or Continental belts without issue, but it's not worth taking the chance on having to do it twice imho.

My thoughts exactly, but perhaps the Porsche belt's mass is different than the others? Possible a different mass can vibrate more at certain RPMs and cause the misfire sensors to throw alarms?
