I drive mine year 'round and thought about getting the hard top. Frankly, I think I'm better off replacing the fabric top when needed instead. 14 years in and still holding up.

I would tint the windows (including the windshield with the clearest tint available that provides protection from the sun) and apply a ceramic coating to everything on the outside. Do all the paint along with all the trim, headlights, wheels, etc. They sell specific coatings for rubber and plastic or you can use the paint coating on them (but it will not work as well). Use a product with SPF protection on all the interior surfaces (something like 303 protectant or Carpro PERL diluted 10:1 for a matte finish)

I recommend Gyeon Mohs for the paint coating. You should get 3+ years out of it. Just make sure you get the paint 100% clean (use an iron remover, and then clay bar), and corrected with a polish (and possibly compound) so you are not sealing in scratches.

Your car will thank you and look incredible when complete. It will also make it a ton easier to wash and stay clean longer. Coatings get better and better each year. Some advertise to be scratch resistant, but that's not entirely true. If will help keep stuff that might scratch when washing from sticking to the paint in the first place, but that's about it.

I personally would not use a car cover as they can scratch the paint if there is any dirt between the cover and the car that will get rubbed in whenever the wind blows. If the car is going to sit inside for months without being touched and you can get it clean before putting it on, then maybe it will help.

If outside is the only option I wouldnt worry much. Tint the windows. Wax the thing once in a while. As mentioned...it's just a car. And in reality, not exactly a high 6 figure car either.
For the record, I wouldn't park a collectible outside. But something that's being driven...I really wouldn't worry about it.

My 981 cgts has lived outside since purchase. My older cars get the garage spots. It has ppf, paint still looks great. One problem is I was too lazy to use a sun shade, and my leather dash is lifting in the corner. Other problem is on very cold winter mornings, if there is frost, I can’t close the door because the window is frozen shut. I’ve had to drive to work holding the car door “shut” on occasion

Ironically it has almost no repair needs, as compared to the cars I keep pampered in the garage.

The adhesives don’t like heat: so door panels, headliner, leather trim, can all start to become unbonded.

My 981 GTS has lived in garages its whole life (California and south Texas). I suspect that’s why I haven't had any issues with the adhesives.

As far as the top and dash, I got a partial cover based on a PCA recommendation and it works extremely well to protect the top and dash from sun

North American car covers, half cover for Porsche, under $100 bucks.
