Comment from my 981 build thread: ( https://rennlist.com/forums/981-foru...-bs-build.html ) ”Two things I was still unsatisfied with, the flat engine sound and dull Bose sound system. Chose Soul Performance valved exhaust- beautiful H6 burbles and bass in street mode, pure roaring hooliganism in track mode, which I expect I won’t use terribly often, but nice to be able to scare mere mortals with a button then an accelerator push.”

Absolutely thrilled with the cat back, so glad I got the valved version, will be using mostly street mode. Now my H6 sounds as good as it goes. Quality fantastic. Dave at Soul was super helpful. May be my favorite 981 upgrade! BTW, Musicar system to fix the audio in a month or so…

Thank you for choosing us! Glad we could meet the mark. Hopefully we get to see / hear some video of your build at some point!

Finally set up a mic to properly capture my startup sound, LOVE this valved cat back exhaust.

I will work to get a full acceleration recorded. It screams.

Cheers, sounds great!

Justin’s build transformed a 2.7L Cayman and enhanced it to be a perfect driver’s car in Hong Kong – be it city or countryside. Enjoy the machinery of and the scenery around this stylish build. Enjoy the video and see the full mod list in our Build Bible blog post here.

Finally got a decent audio / video recording of the amazing Soul exhaust. Apologies for the “clicking” my guess is that is the microphone bouncing on our horribly rutted CO roads. But I think this fairly well captures why I love this upgrade.

BTW I don’t normally drive around town like this (open mode) only remote roads when I’m alone.

That sounds awesome, thank you for sharing! Where did you mount the microphone?

Taped Rode lav mic to license plate bracket, might move it out a couple of feet, see if it smooths the sound out.

Nice, great choice for the area as there is minimal wind buffeting there. Are you running a furry mic cover? That can help reduce undesirable sounds. I would also stand the mic off from the plate with double sided adhesive foam which further isolates vibrations from the mic.

The recipe for a great time goes something like this: 981 Cayman S, SOUL Competition Headers (with PSE), and a track day at NJMP!

Here is a rev comparison between two Cayman S - one with PSE and our Long Tube Street Headers and the other with our Valved Exhaust System and factory headers:

I did RMR PCA Autocross University today. Got at least a half dozen questions / comments on my Soul valved exhaust. 2-3 said they were wavering, hearing mine they’re going to go with the same exhaust for certain. One said I had the best sounding car of the day, pretty heady comment considering the high dollar cars there (GTs, RS, many PSE cars). Unfortunately, it didn’t really help me drive very smoothly, that’s all on me!

Here's Aaron putting the finishing touches on a set of Long Tube Street Headers! We're looking forward to building yours next.

Cyclman, you convinced me to go with a Soul! I have the PSE now, and will probably go with the valved version of the Soul. I thin the PSE sounds pretty good- better than I thought it would. But the Soul will be even better, plus I could use the few extra HP for autocrossing in Street Class.
