Build date sticker is on driverS door bye latch mechanism,
Also not sure if any very early '92 cars have the vin # on the glass but my drivers window pass window and rear hatch have the vin etched onto glass I can scrape off with fingernail. I have 14th coupe made for '92 in America.

Alxdgr8 I sent you a PM but that midnight blue car you have I bought from buzz Lynn in Sacramento in 2007 it had the nice zf lsd gearbox and brand new leather seats after 6 months or so then I sold it to John Manelis in Napa ca you must have gotten it from him!

My twin to Doug's (color wise) was built in March 1992, and has a conventional north American 17 digit VIN beginning with WPOAA. It does NOT have the recessed hood badge.

As per your PM, here is a pic of the paint I used on my door handle. Depending on light conditions it's a lot closer match than the picture shows.

Jeff

I have a 92 related question?? Suppose this is asked and answered but anyway here goes.

The 92 recessed hood badge? Was this an option or did all cars at the beginning of production get the recessed badge?

If so what were the timelines you could get a recessed hood badge?

Thanks
John

Hi John,

It was not an option but a feature. It was there at the beginning of production and disappeared in early December 1991.

They were up to about 350 cabs at that point with the highest VIN I have recorded being NS840406.

They were up to about 150 coupes at that point with the highest VIN I have recorded being NS820219.

Along with the recessed hood badge these early car also used a slightly larger, edged, rear 968 emblem.

My only guess as to why they stopped was to make production easier.

Jeff

Thanks, so your January 1992 built cab has the NA VIN on the firewall?

If so, they made the change between December and January.

Thanks for the help.

Jeff

BTW, you have black piping on your light grey seats? (option code 13861)

yes, you're right.
And the firewall and the title got the same NA VIN.
