ive been busy lately. the engine is on a stand and the dissasembly has started. err. I really didnt know that i had to dissassemble the entire head to get it off of the block.

but im debating. I have an extra 2.5S 16V head. and well should i use the 2.5 head with the custom work done to it to fit the 3.0L block.. and save the 968 head for a time when i or some one else needs it.

or P&P the 968 head. im not sure what addtional hp the vario cam will give me when im pushing 2 bar of boost. ( a relative term of pressure)

humm another decision i should be making soon. and id like some input.

Im thinking of making the engine work on pure. or a 50/50 solution of meth and gas.

on a 50 / 50 i can have a second tank. and second fuel rail on the intake manifold for the meth. and let thoes inj's open up over 1.0 or 1.5 bar. this should let me hold a stable 2 bar on 8.5:1. and well i can always turn down the boost to one bar for street use. a TECIII should be able to handle it. humm.. decisions decisions.

I have an aquaintance that deals in indy cars. (his shop is about 10 miles away from my house) and i was looking over the tech that was in a few of his 800 hp v6 buick engines. he runs pure meth and only spends about 2$ a gal. thats not really that bad. espically when im planning on about 25 gal tank. the bad news is he gets about 1.8 miles per gal. but if im not using that much fuel then i should be able to get it to about 3-5mpg. and with that setup. competing in the nevada high way races should not be a problem. errrr.. bain storming can be so fun some times.

hows the turbo going??? did you get all of the necessary body pannels for it.? i.e that special hood.

Yeah, you have to remove the cams in order to get to the head studs, but you already know that now .

What kind of tensioner does the 944 16 valve head use? Based on that, I can recommend you a few things. Give me a call sometime to discuss. Variocam got its problems and might not be the best app for turbo charging but you are using a standalone so you might be able to play with some variables to make it kick according to your needs.
As far as the turbo, look for the full bb types. I have a GT25 and a GT30 and will get rid of one. I will be using a 2.7 NA head so a GT25 might be a better street turbo for me and I don't plan to run more than 1.3 bar ever. You on the other side will be using a 16 valve head and could use the GT30. Let me know if you would be interested. Its brand new and has everything needed to adapt it to a 944/968. Chris Cervalli spec'd this to make 463rwhp at 1.3 bar on his turbo race car with a 2 valve head before he gave up on the project. All parts are in perfect condition and I can send you pics. Lord know what it will make at 2bar. I do know that these turbo's make over 800hp on supra's and skylines and dont have the same back pressure issues as KKK hybrid hotsides.

I got the factory turbo S bumper and a few other trick pieces on its way. I also have a factory turbo S trans coming as well which is geared for over 180mph and is much stronger as well, not that the standard ones are weak or any slouch. From what I heard, they are still good for 600hp.
Regards.

well boost is back pressure.
so i really dont know how much air wil not get into my engine. but we will see.

i was thinking about using a grrett T-88 or slightly smaller. mostly due to the fact that i an buy a garett later and be able to swap it out. with the minimum amount of work. did you know that im planning on running the turbo in the passenger foot well?

meth will defenantly add a lot of stability to the whole combustion process.

I talked to the F-Con engineers that happened to be in town. They are really keen on my 3.0L project and recommended the F-ConV standalone at a knocked out price. Cheaper than Motec, more options and free tuning.
