Default Valve cover

I'm going to remove my valve cover to paint and have the hardware re-plated.
1) Do I have to remove the fuel lines?
2) I saw a valve cover gasket kit for 100 dollars on pelican, do I need to buy the entire kit or just the valve cover gasket itself?

Are you going with the original finish or something custom? If original, what are you looking at?

I have no idea Jeff. I was just going to get some high temp silver paint and then have the hardware re-plated in that cadmium color.
Do you have a recommendation?

Get the kit and some non setting goop for the transitions. It would be wise to pick up the oring and paper gasket for the vario solenoid also.

I use hylomar most of the time but anything will work that is easy to remove. Smash the end of a 1/2" soft copper pipe as it does no harm to the aluminum.

Drop a couple Benjamins on some new fuel lines. They are old. You might roll the gasket by the firewall with the lines in the way as you work it under the cruise cable and over the solenoid.

Wurth has a couple shades of silver high temp wheel paint. I am curios which is the closest match. One shade is European wheel silver and the other is VAG silver. There was a thread with paint dabbed with a paper towel to recreate the finish but it might be hard to find.

I think it is sprayed in a way that creates a texture.

Yea I have seen that engine. That's exactly what I just did to that fuel rail cover. I think I'll hold off on the valve cover for a little bit. Will post pics later.
I may have to redo it because I'm having a hard time getting the lettering lines so clean.
