Default Porsche 968 With A Mazda Rotary Engine Swap

What do you guys think about this????

From the article:
Ask Mazda RX with rotary owners what they love and dislike most about their vehicles and there’s a good chance that you’ll get the same reply: the rotary motor.

if you post something truly atrocious, someone will give you the unfiltered response:

what a grand idea: spend tons of money building a car that's nearly completely worthless.

still not as utterly silly as sorting a 924 variant, mind you.....

but right up there.

The hood doesn't fit, and it is far less horsepower than the 3.0

It is a 1984 13B RX7 GSL motor at 135 HP and 135 FtLbs of torque. Not sure why they would bother unless the car and engine were free. And so was the labor.

And the chasis was not free:

Rotary Powered Porsche 968 I had the opportunity to buy a Porsche 968 Cabriolet with nice body and interior, but with no engine or transmission. The price was too good to pass up, even though I really didn't need another project. I had a very nice custom built 4 port 13b, street ported, and a very low mileage RX-7 trans, so I decided to do this conversion. This conversion required some serious fabrication - not for the average backyard mechanic. I would not have attempted this without the help of Sean O'Brien, my fabricator/welder.

applaud the creativity, but it's exactly what a 968 doesn't need - LESS low end...
now a 13B-REW from an RX8...they got that one right. still makes the same power as a 968 though.
and a 968 engine bay is plenty big for a 3-rotor...

I would go with a 944 turbo or S2 engine and transmission.

It's taken some time but all the Mazda running gear is gone, hardest part of all the work done so far getting ready for the
M/52 motor and AOR is replacing the central tube. Why this person who rotorized this car ever did that we will never know.

who you calling a fool?, the fool who put in that Mazda crap or me the fool who got a wrecked
'89 951 M030 car ( yeah I know it's Club Sport by default) as a doner car for the running gear to restore this back to a Porsche?

Thank You for actually reading the dialogue here seams like some are missing the point, I bought the Porszda off of Ebay believe it or not.f Actually at a. very reasonable price, well below the starting bid. Not impressed in the least bit that they some how managed to get a two rotor FD or FB or what ever the heck ,F.U. is what I would call it. Also a front mount transmission and budged in a RX-7 IRS system under this 968.
I actually was able to contact by shear coincidence the man who created that abortion and he bought back
the engine and transmission back for $2000. The engine was actually had some trick work ( street
ported and four barrel carburetor)
done to it but really, who cares, actually the sale of the running gear , it nearly cut my purchase price by %30 after selling the rear suspension too.
