I picked up my 968 last Friday eve. I must say I am suprised by the amount of torque and power this car has. 181,500 miles, 2 owner car that has been very well cared for, lots of records from the orignal 1st owner, 2nd owner only kept it for 1 1/2 yrs. It will not be winning any car show events but as a driver its perfect and I plan to rack up the miles and enjoy it on the road as often as possible. Did the 1st oil change, used Mobil 1 V twin 20/50( 3 qts high levels of ZDDP) and Mobil 1 15/50 ( 4 qts). I am very happy with it so far. Spent this past weekend cleaning it up and driving the hell out of it. Removed the belt covers and the engine under tray so I can always see whats going on with leaks and the belts. Total drivers car in the tradition of the 944's
Thanks!! Where are you guys buying the replacment rubber trim sections that run along the rear qtr panel/wing and below the t doors back to the rear wheel arch. thanks

Going bk through the records I can see that the TB, all front engine seals, chain, pads, wtr pump, BS belts, both aux belts were replaced 22,000 miles ago, Feb 2013. On my 944 and the 951 I have always run these to 30,000 miles before a change out. Is the 968 a diffrent beast of will this work whith this car also The current belts look good , are not hard or cracked in any way now that I have gotten rid of those damm covers and can eyeball them. Its all clean and dry with no oil leaks behind the covers. What are you guys doung with your belts?
Well 2 weeks into ownership ( loving it) and the new tires went on yesterday, and just in time for the heavy rain we are now getting in the bay area this weekend. A closer insp found many loose bolts for the oil pan and the lower B/S covers under the engine which I snugged up on. It was a wet oily mess below ,This alone stopped all but 1 small oil leak and I cleaned up any signs of the old oil leaks as I hate a dirty grimmey engine. . Its seems to be the O ring behind the L / BS seal housing thats still leaking although my 944 had this exact leak and it was the oil cooler ( PITA ) to repair!! The viberation that the seller mentioned had nothing to do with motor mounts as he stated and which was also listed on a service invoice as future needed work . While snugging uo the bolts on the oil pan I had put the engine at TDC for some reason, and I just happened to notice that the L B/S pulley notch wasnt at 7 ocock. Not sure where it was but it was out of position. Removed the belt, clocked it to 7 and retightened the belt , Engine is smooth as silk now.
The great thing about this NOT being a perfect looking car ( road chips up front) is the fact that I can and will drive it regardless of the weather.
